Mary J Blige wants Janet to shut it down!!

Blige said she's looking forward to Janet Jackson's tribute to her late brother this Sunday at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. There are a number of songs Janet could perform, but any selection will do for Blige — she's rooting for Jackson.

"I'm hoping Janet shuts the whole place down," she said.

It's so nice to see Janet's peers anticipating her performance just as we are!

YAYY! JANET! YAY!!

While Lady Gaga prepares for Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards by polishing her nipple tassels and Hannibal Lecter mask, Janet Jackson is very hard at work staging a spectacular VMA tribute to her brother Michael. TMZ reports that Janet’s routine will feature 20 backup dancers and top-tier choreography from Frank Gatson and Travis Payne. Will she don a one-piece leather suit for a fan-blasted medley of her own “Black Cat” and Michael’s “Dirty Diana”? Will she sing “Scream” accompanied by recorded vocals from her fallen duet partner, à la Natalie and Nat King Cole?

The rehearsals for the Michael tribute, which have reportedly required 15-hour days from Janet and company, indicate that a massive collage of hits will be performed. I assume she’ll go for the gusto by adding “Billie Jean,” “Scream,” and a ballad portion featuring “You are Not Alone.” While the pressure is on for Janet to deliver a moving, even legendary homage, she also has a stellar past in VMA performances to honor.

I really wish I could be excited about this like some of you. I'm unfortunately not though. lol Janet is a very cool person, I like some of her songs, and I think she's a great actress. However, I've never considered myself a general "Janet Jackson fan." Growing up, I didn't run to see or buy any of her solo stuff, even though she's Michael's closest sister. But I hope this performance on Sunday is memorable. smile

MTV is using MJ's death (in any way they can) to rake in the ratings. BET enjoyed the highest ratings ever in the network's history due to the tribute on the BET awards and MTV wants to do the same thing. They're using the opening to get viewers, they're using the movie promo keep 'em.

not that i'm complaining or criticizing them. they're tv, they are supposed to entertain as many people as possible. good on them for knowing how much MJ meant to everyone. it's only too bad it took his death for them to air him.

NY Daily News reports that Janet Jackson will take the stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 13.
Jackson will perform with the dancers that were to perform with her brother, Michael Jackson on his “This Is It” tour.

The MTV general manager, Stephen Friedman told The News: “This is not something that just came together - we've been in talks with [Janet] for a while. We felt there was no one better than Janet to anchor it and send a really powerful message.” Friedman adds, “She's working with well-known choreographers who've all worked with Michael, as well as the dancers who were going to be on Michael's tour…In a sense, she's carrying on her brother's legacy."

The MVAs will feature the official trailer from the King of Pop’s tour with behind-the-scenes clips of Michael performing.

According to MTV News, the Jackson tribute will kick off Sunday’s event, broadcasting from New York City's locations including Radio City Music Hall.

Ok, you can thank LA Reid for patching that up for her and that clearly didn't do shit. What's a commercial after shows going to do? And what dance show are you talking about? And who said her music sucked because Jam and Lewis wasn't on them? 20 Y.O. sucked because of that gremlin! J&L worked on Enjoy and a few other hidden gems on that album. Damita Jo is underrated and really good. Discipline is just blah! and J&L weren't on that project. Now it's strictly J&L and Janet. So we're hoping for some of that Classic Janet. Get it now?

opinion.

i believe Discipline is her best album of this decade.

DJ suffered from being over long and too much filler

20YO was all right nothing to write home about.

you seem to be one of the few unbiased people here when it comes to janet, i am a big fan but i dont agree with everything she's done, what i hate is when people try to disregard everything janet has done in her career or use double standards that dont apply to other artists and i really hate when they act like her last 3 albums were completely terrible. i dont really care for discipline much, i like quite a few songs from 20 yo and i think dj is underrated. i also agree with the mtv thing, they been back on board with janet since discipline, its no reason to hate mtv, hell i dont even watch mtv. i still dont like justin (i didnt like him before the superbowl) so i damn sure wasnt gonna like him after.THE BEST MOVE JANET HAS MADE IN THE LAST 7 OR 8 YEARS IS SHE GOT RID OF JD.
