this from radiohead.com:
FeelingPulledApartbyHorses/ TheHollowEarth 12inch Dear Sir or Madam This is to inform you of the release of two more bits of work shortly. They are loosely under the Thom Yorke name this time, although these days its all getting kind of blurry. FeelingPulledApartbyHorses is written & played by Jonny and I and is a radical rework of an old tune thats been kicking around without a home since 2001? i think . The Hollow Earth is a bass menace that was born out of the Eraser period but needed a little more time. Both were produced by Nigel Godrich as ever. And mastered by Bob Ludwig. They are being put out on 12" with sliced sleeve by Stanley and Tchock. My sources tell me this will be available from the 21st of September if you're interested. On sale in the w.a.s.t.e part of our website (with a gratis download.) Or you can go buy it in a good record shop if you are lucky enough to have one near you. Then later on there will be like a normal download thing i think around the 6th of Oct through the usual channels. And so it goes. all the best Thom and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I'm actually a huge Radiohead fan. I am excited about the new songs they've released lately. Love Twisted Words, love Harry Patch, had a few cool-weather days to savor those outside.
I might as well get this, I don't have a turntable anymore, I used to have an old one I played old Time records on, but it broke. I don't want to pay up the ass for novelty pieces of shit in Target or the mall that are badly made and fake-retro. Should I just hit thrift stores or do you know of a site I can order an affordable but real record player from? Anyway, I'm particularly interested in Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses. Back in 2004, my cousin and I were playing the hell out of Hail to the Thief, and ate up ANY news of new songs they would play on tour. By 2005 and we were putting together bits and pieces of info on what we thought their new record would be like. In magazines, Thom constantly mentioned they were playing songs like "Down is the New Up", "Bangers & Mash", "Last Flowers(til the Hospital)", and "House of Cards". He also mentioned that the first one would probably be a lead-off single on their new record that my cousin and I really thought would be out 2005-2006. But my curiosity was greater to hear a song called "Reckoner" in 2005. I read that it was crunchy-guitar-driven, and the lyrics were unsual. ("Feeling pulled apart by horses, fed up on lame shite excuses") and the chorus itself was simply: "RECKONER! papapapa- RECKONER papapa" I was like, "How is this going to sound? 'Reckoner, papapapa'? Anyway, a few ironies exist for me. The most significant being that that only ONE of the songs they had been playing/promoting actually made it onto In Rainbows! I love it to death, but it is absolutely not the record they had been teasing from 2005 onward. I mean, "Down is the New Up" and "Bangers & Mash" were being mentioned as being singles, and now they exist only as unreleased tracks hardly anyone has. I also remember in 2006 Thom claiming their new record "sounds like OK Computer, but more terrifying". Definitely not the record they would release. The second irony I still can't stop milling over is that, when In Rainbows hit the internet, I was excited to see that "Reckoner", the song I waited two years out of curiosity to hear, was on there! How hard and guitary was it? How does the chorus of 'RECKONER! papapapa' sound?! Oh, there's no guitars. Oh, the chorus...doesn't say 'papapapa'.... ...oh. This isn't the song I waited two years for....it's just titled as such. Interestingly enough, not only was I NOT disappointed, but the "Reckoner" on 'In Rainbows' fast became one of my favorite songs in existence, and hit very closely and personally with me for some reason. Anyway, I'm sure you know all of this, and that original "Reckoner" played back in 2005 is in fact, this now-redone song "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses". There's a few youtube vids of it being played, and if you hadn't already noticed, the main guitar part that permeates the whole song does begin to play towards the end of the "In Rainbows" 'Reckoner', I was always comforted by that reference. So for sentimental reasons, I'm looking forward to hearing this current incarnation of "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses", or in my heart, "The original Reckoner". I'm also gonna bet that the chorus is no longer "RECKONER! papapapa".

POOK said: yeah they're not too expensive anymore. i don't have one myself since i have no LPs from before (once i was buying music the cd was already catching on). but if i had an old record collection or even if i wanted to start one now, i would go for a turntable with a USB plug in, so you can transfer your old and new albums to mp3. i've seen such turntables around here for as little as 40 euros. So like I said in my epic tale above, this was the original 'Reckoner', which is now referred to as "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses". Expect the upcoming release of this to be current, and redone, as this is from years ago.
Also interesting is that you'll recognize this continuous guitar riff from the In Rainbows song "Reckoner". It begins playing softly towards the end of the song. http://www.youtube.com/wa...c_3R2-TIJk

Also, here's an acoustic version from 2005, notice he no longer shouts "RECKONER! papapapa" for the chorus, but instead...
...well....shouts what one commenter translates as "fried rice fried fried rice fried rice" http://www.youtube.com/wa...THJHMuhEUo I don't care, I love it. And OP- you made me so envious I had to go ahead and preorder this vinyl! I think I've spent 25 USD for two songs, but fuck if it didn't feel good! Also, for those interested, if you do preorder this vinyl, you will get to download both songs on September 21st. I believe I read that if you don't purchase the vinyl, you won't have access to the downloads until October.
