stevie invited prince to have a listen to some tracks in the studio and played him so what the fuss, and prince added his guitar to it to make it funkier. i read about this either on npgmc or an interview at the time. i think stevie said prince pee'd on it

prince covered maybe you're baby a few times during the 94 shows, notably at the glam slam interactive broadcast birthday shows in 94. later in june 94, i think the 26th, stevie was in the audience and joined him onstage

there is also a clip going around where prince jumped onstage and guested with stevie at one of his shows, playing a bit of guitar. this was a couple of years when prince was making these brief appearances by jumping onstage with the blind boys of alabama (see a theme here...and the pun?) and q tip

and during stevies 88 tour he played about 30 seconds of housequake during the middle of his show, playing the actual prince track from cd or tape and getting people to dance to it

prince also covered superstition a few times, although mostly intrumental versions. he had a thing for doing covers and not knowing the right lyrics so would either play instrumental or get someone else to sing. there was the famous tanquerine suit and hat nite at the indigo2 aftershow in 2007 where prince played a full version of superstition with lyrics, followed by a full version of higher ground with lyrics, with prince sitting at the keyboard that was rolled to the centre of the stage. that was one of the best prince aftershows he ever did. he did ballad of dorothy party, and i think use me (bill withers), he did something like 25 mins at the start of the gig sitting at the keyboards. he had the lyric sheets in front of him at all bar the first 2 or 3 indigo2 aftershows. it was so fucking cool to have prince at about arms length getting funky on the keys like that, full on proper sit down playing full proper versions of songs, no medley or sample bullshit

cold chill was the rarest released stevie track as it was only available as part of the itunes "box"set

george michael did a fair few stevie covers too, both officially released studio and live versions, and a few others during shows. GM said that his natural singing voice was in the same key as stevie during his classic 70s period, which is why he did so many covers. he did love's in need of love today, pastime paradise, as, if i was your woman, living for the city (i have a live duet version with stevie wonder), i belive when i fall in love, superstition, they won't go, knocks me off my feet, amongst others

I also loved the tribute they did for Chaka Khan... Prince on guitar and Stevie on keys. They only teased "Ain't Nobody" but damn... was it rocking!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this! I'm a massive Prince and Stevie fan and yet had never heard this before. Then I saw the post about it only being released on iTunes, so I guess that's why.

This shit is seriously funky. I love it!

As I said, Stevie said on a french tv show that Prince did some work on a song (now, thanks to you guys, I know that it is on cold chill) and I thought that the mix of My love is with you (with the bullet reversed at the end) was close to Prince use of sounds, then (I'm ashamed now...boxed) I was certain that it was Prince voice saying something at the very end of the song !!!! Like I said, I was dreaming...could have sworn it was Prince voice !

Ah, makes sense. Now. There is a bit of a Camille voice at the end, as well as some other stuff.

A Glam Slam west show... Stevie joins Prince for "Maybe Your Baby", one of Stevie's most funky tracks.

I was front & center for that glam slam gig. Blew my mind when berry gordy escorted stevie on stage. Prince was literally on the floor laughing in disbelief that he was playing with one of his all time idols. A magical moment I won't soon forget.
