I just realized something: Michael Jackson named two of his latter-day albums after albums that were released in 1984:

'Dangerous' Bar Kays
'Invincible' Pat Benatar

hmmm but back on topic.....this is a jam. That entire album is hot.I especially love "Dirty Dancer".

The one song I don't like is "Freakshow On The Dancefloor" boxed I think it's a lame rip-off of Midnight Star's superior "No Parking On The Dancefloor".The Bar-Kays have several hits that "borrow" from other popular songs but I think they went too far with this one.

I love "Dirty Dancer".It borrows the synth riff from MJ's "Billie Jean",but it's an outstanding song on its own.Best track on the album.

Yes it does. I like the way they punked the song out though.
My favorite song on the album though from day 1 is Sexomatic.
As far as Freakshow,it's no secret they borrowed the concept from
Midnight Star but this one had every rockin back in eighty fo.

I absolutely love "Make Believe Lovers". And "Loose Talk" is like The Barkays gone bi....

Am I a king or am I a queen
No one knows the inside scene
They chit and chat about what I am
But frankly I don't give a damn

lol

Truly the freaks! lol

I love "Freakshow On The Dancefloor". "Dance, Party, Etc." is also borrowing from "DMSR".

I get that with loose talk but i always thought it was clever
songwriting by the band. With Make Believe Lover, i thought it
about a female.

"Make Believe Lovers" was about a female. "Loose Talk" was simply The Barkays borrowing from Prince's androgony which was hot at the time. Apparently they had even been listening to sister also....

Some even suspect that I make love to my sister....

Simply The Barkays getting freaky. They played around with androgynous lyrics on the "Banging The Walls" album also.

I do remember when I was visiting Memphis in 1991 and went to a gay club called "The Apartment Club". All I could think about were those previous androgynous lyrics from The Barkays years earlier and kept hoping I would see either Larry or one of the other guys in the club but that didn't happen. lol
