totaldiva said: Diana Ross is sitting on enough cash, she doesn't need to sing another note. Diana has put the D in diva (the good, bad and ugly well documented), but at the end of the day, Diana Ross is an ICON (who happens to marry VERY well). Her bad attitude filming Diva's Live could've contributed to lack of interest in her. I love Diana Ross, she is a fantastic show woman, and granted she may not have the most pleasant personality (speculation), but she has done what many women in the industry has to get to the top (example: Madonna) My suggestion to Diana Ross is to cater to her very large gay fanbase and release a dance/house oriented album (as Cher did with Believe). I don't know about the rest of the album but I bought her dance single "Take Me Higher" in 1995 and loved it. It got absolutely no radio airplay though and I never heard it in any of the clubs either..... Andy is a four letter word.

Diane should do a full dance album. Don't know why she hasn't.

SoulAlive said: 'Swept Away' was her last great album. The albums that came after are spotty at best.In the late 80s,she really needed an amazing producer (Quincy Jones, perhaps?) to help her make an outstanding album.Or hell...she should have just went into the studio with LA and Babyface.Everything they touched turned to gold (or platinum).
That sounds right. Seems like she spent the nineties making very tepid R&B albums (I own the last two plus "I Love You", which is a nice collection). If she did a full dance album, it might be really interesting or could be awful if not produced right. The "Not Over You Yet" remix is a great example of a Diana Ross dance track but I could imagine in the wrong hands that the album would sound very clunky!

I don't think the video to Eaten Alive was any worse than what most people were doing during that era. There were some pretty ridiculous ones out there by that time - in fact, most of the videos to hit songs at around 1984-86 were by definition very cheesy.

She's not that strong of a singer, horrible dancer, and if it hadn't been for a talent for sleeping her way to the top with Berry Gordy, there wouldn't be a Diana Ross to even discuss on this thread. Sure she looks good in her famous wigs and outstanding classy outfits, but she's nothing more to me than a background singer who made it big because she went through the right connections to get famous. It worked and walla, here we are. Sorry if i've stepped on a lot peoples toes with my opinion, but thats honestly how I see her.
Preach that shit!!!! | |

At this point,a dance album would be her best bet.Cher was in her 50s when she recorded "Believe",her most successful single and album.Dance music fans don't care how old you are.If the album is good, they will buy it.

i think a bigger problem with Eaten Alive is that the song is terrible, despite its MJ and Bee Gees origins. hell, it's so bad that it's practically a duet with MJ after he'd been away from the charts for awhile and it STILL didn't catch on.
