Echoes of an Era - That Other Chaka Khan

The "Hollywood Bowl" post contains a show review that mentions an album released in 1982 called...

...Echoes Of An Era

More than 20 years before there was ClassiKhan (her 2004 Jazz based album), there was Echoes Of An Era
Lenny White organized a top flight band with Chaka Khan as the vocalist.

The Players
Chaka Khan - vocals
Lenny White - drums, producer
Chick Corea - piano
Stanley Clarke - acoustic bass
Freddie Hubbard - trumpet, flugelhorn
Joe Henderson - tenor sax

Them There Eyes
All of Me
I Mean You
I Loves You Porgy
Take the "A" Train
I Hear Music
High Wire - The Aerialist
Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most

Anyone interested in hearing Chaka's voice in a true Jazz setting would enjoy this album.

Harlepolis

I still marvel at the fact that it was recorded in like what,,,,2 or 3 days? disbelief mushy

Her version of Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most does it for me everytime touched

The fact that she held her own among that fabulous ensemble proves to me that Chaka is as much of a musician as every one of them.

Def one of my most special Chaka moments,,,,,let her sing any jazz or rock material, and she won't do wrong in my book music
