Luther Vandross, Human

Never heard this song before. This is off an album I have never heard before..lol

Never was that into Luther. Maybe that's why. Wink. But this is a really good, jazzy song, with help from Cassandra Wilson and members of the jazz group Foreplay:

One of my faves from big Luther! Actually the 'I Know' album is great overall, I'm not sure why critics and admirers of Luther thought it was crap back in '98. I used to play the cassette all of the time.

I think it's a good album, especially coming after the so-so Your Secret Love album. I still can't get through that whole cd.

Your Secret Love was alittle uneven for me, but it was a big return to form in many ways. I think the problem with that particular album, as with many of his 90's-era materal, has saccharine ballads and not enough of Luther's spirit and soul. But it did have fine cuts like the title track, Nobody to Love, and Whether or Not the World Gets Better. I Know was his best album of the 90's as it was also his most diverse.

I think that's what it was- the ballads were too sugary. But when I heard I Know, I said- Luther got it right. Unfortunately or fortunately his tenure with Virgin records was short.
