This is almost part II that was missing from the first version 1 year earlier.

Step back and watch Herbie take into the outer limits...

Classic tune for sure but way more fun to watch some of the live versions than hear the album cut.

That '75 version that slave2dagroove posted was percolating intensity at its best and nice to see Herbie rocking his period Afro.

Fast forward 24 years to see him sporting a processed doo and smoothing out the arrangement:

There are so many live versions of Chameleon from over the years I could spend all day enjoying and comparing them.


This one in Japan has a very cool keyboard dual between Herbie and Jeff Bova playing those keyboards thingies you hang around your neck like a guitar.

Blew my mind the first time I heard it. The whole album is essential listening. One of those 'everybody should own' kind of records.
