If you listen to the lyrics, this has an extremely sad concept...it's about two people who are in love, but have different ambitions. She's a settler, he's a rambler, yet this doesn't come between them and you feel that love is still there, even though they aren't together....

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

That is one deeply, deeply sad and disturbing song.

Of course I nominate her rendition of Gloomy Sunday as my favorite "sad" song.

Also, we can't forget David Bowie's ode to a doomed spaceman;

"A Letter To Elise" does it for me personally.

"In The Yard Behind The Church" by the Eels isn't exactly that terribly cheerful either.

Then there's of course "Sad Song" by Lou Reed.

When I close my eyes and focus on every aspect of the song from the composition to all the soul that Donny putted into this song. It just tears me up because you can hear his pain.
