tip: jan delay - wir kinder vom bahnhof soul ... great cd

jan delay's new cd - wir kinder vom bahnhof soul - is a really funky album
a lot of references to prince - he often sings about prince, and how great his music is and he is a really great funk-musician

give it a try and listen to it

Alot of myfriends are in his band. I'm happy everybody's making dough right now, but I actually don't like his music...his voice irritates me. Nice fella, though lol

so you telling me, that your friends are actually band-members of disco nr. 1 but you don't like their sound - they should be very angry with you smile

i think he is really a great musician and live-artist - don't know any actual german musician with his talent (imho). and i like that he admires prince and takes good things out of princes work and rearranges it and make it his own music!

please say hello to him when you meet him from an austrian fan - as I said earlier, i have been to a concert of him in austria / tirol / wörgl appr. 2 years ago and when i walked into he also just walked in next to me - did like the moment!

ps: what's even interesting - in the last month i always rush into the "small-world-theory" of stanley milgram. it says that everybody in the world would know every other person in the world via appr. 6,6 corners. So - although we don't really know each other - but we communicate here via p.org - the way to theoratically know jan delay for me is not that far anymore ... it's really funny
other example: one of my oldest friends was the personal bus-driver of prince during the ona-tour - he spent 2 month next to prince and had a really good relationship to him

I know what I said sounds terrible, doesn't it? lol . But in all sincerity, for working musicians who spend their lives as sidemen, background singers, it's a job, an extended gig that has a beginning, a middle, and an end. It's not much unlike other jobs, really; like an office gig where you have no emotional attachment to an account, or a fashion photographer that has happy days shooting ELLE, then very uninterested days shooting the bra page of a women's fashion catalog. Usually unless folks are kind of the ground members of something it's easier to detach yourself...and it's okay for your friends to wrinkle their noses and say "ew" at some of the things you do to make a buck. Besides, in the end you don't love your friends for what they do, but who they are biggrin
