They're Prince/rap music fans, so nothing was ever off limits. But oh how they HATE New Edition. But I've snuck a few jams in and my mom danced. And my dad knows lyrics. I've caught them. LOL! Oh, and my dad hates Usher. He can't talk, he likes 50 Cent.

One Sunday afternoon back in 1981, I was gone skating. While I was gone, she was thumbing through my records looking for songs that she liked so I could make her a tape when I got home. She always did like the song "Controversy". Anyway, when I got home, she was standing at the door with the "Controversy" album in her hand and said "What in the hell is this!". I said "The new Prince album, what's the problem?". Then she just started reading the song titles. She had never heard the songs but was getting pissed from just the titles....Sexuality, Do Me, Baby, Private Joy, and then when she made it down to Jack U Off, she hit the motherfucking roof. I didn't know what her problem was. She said do you even know what this means? I said "No" (and I didn't). Then I asked her what it meant and she wouldn't even tell me, she was just pissed.
The funny part is, when I asked a friend what "Jack U Off" meant and he told me, as it turns out, I had been jacking off myself for about a year or two and never knew the official name to what I was doing. Wow, Andy that is the funniest thing I've read all day. Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

I mostly just listened to hardcore hip-hop stuff when I lived with my father. I moved out when I was 15 so I've never really a problem with anyone being pissed off from what I was listening to.
I do remember him overhearing me listening to "Fuck Tha Police" by NWA one time and getting mad at it. One other time, he walked into the room as I was listening to a freestyle by the rapper Drag-On from Ruff Ryders. He opened with the lyric "So who am i - DRAG-ON MOTHERFUCKERS!" and my dad walked in right at that moment and was mad as hell lol. |

Mine too! SHIT, my dad practically listens to some hip-hop. My brother sometimes gives him DVD-R's of hip-hop videos. Hell I remember watching some very censored (but still) graphic hip-hop videos that was aired for primetime. He liked to look at the booties on the channel. I didn't care. I was already corrupted at three. My mom & dad has fucking Marvin Sease and Clarence Carter (the Dr. C.C. album) in the car! Some of y'all parents are either conservative or tried to take after their own parents.

She was like WTF kinda song is this? And not a lot of songs phased her. She loved Prince also. Especially the dirty songs. that's gross. i hate when that happens. it's kind of creepy when my mom likes something that even i think is a little over-the-top. I was cool with it, but I was like: How about you enjoy it over there, and I'll enjoy it in my room.

Some of y'all parents are either conservative or tried to take after their own parents. That's because you are younger. Your parents are probably around my age, which will be 42 in a few weeks. With each generation, attitudes become a little more loose and my generation grew up with Prince and The 2 Live Crew. Although Prince was tame compared to The 2 Live Crew. Prince was dirty but he was more classy and used words like "Head" which I didn't even know the meaning of back then. But when 2 Live Crew came out, they would just flat out say "suck dick". Of course, they came later though. Andy is a four letter word.
