I had always wished that I had been in my 20s during the disco era. That way, I would have already been grown and would have been able to go clubbing and fully experience the disco era and the early 80s era. Hell, when I graduated high school in 1985, Shitney Houston came along a few months later and ruined things.

Does anyone know the name of the song in the first clip? I bet Finess knows.

Actually, I was wondering if I had overlooked something in the video. I had to go back and watch it again to see if there was another song in the video that I had overlooked because when I think of Eddy Grant, I immediately think of that Reggae sounding voice with some rock behind it. When I only heard that one song, then I checked youtube.

I can't remember, but I think I've seen that title before. If it's on the B Side of the "Electric Avenue" 45, then I've had it in my collection all these years and didn't even know it.

ya know, sure it would have been cool to be around during these (and the 70s) but I count myself blessed to have lived through the house explosion/club kid era of the early and mid 90's. SF still had large size clubs and there was still a community within the club world...

now it's just dead thanks to politicians making it nearly impossible to open or maintain large size venues.

The house era of the early to mid 90s is when I did some big time partying as an adult. I still wish I had been in my 20s during the disco era though. That way, I would have been able to go out and party back then and still be a young enough adult to continue to party through the mid 90s also. As it turned out though, by the time I reached 30, the party was over.

What I loved about the Garage is you could be yourself and fall deep into what Larry was playing. He never played a bad record

I'd always assumed that the garage was a queer club...was it just a kitchen sink type place? and it sure is nice to see people fully clothed on the dance floor...ughh i can't stand circuit queens.

bboy87, let me tell you...the first time i went to a big club in sf (at 18) was a place called Uranus. I walked in, thanks to a friends id, and found heaven. the place was massive and it was soo packed and people dancing so hard there was sweat dripping off the ceiling...The club scene reached it's peak with Universe in the mid-90s but with a couple OD's and neighborhoods uniting to complain about the outdoor drug use, public sex and fights Mayor Willie Brown passed some strict policies that pretty much closed everything down.

I had to do some major digging down in the stacks but I finally found my "Electric Avenue" 45 and I have had "Time Warp" all these years.

I did some searching on the internet though, and it seems that this song was re-released by Eddie Grant in 1982 but was previously recorded by his group Coach House Rhythm Section, same exact song, music and all. I can't seem to find the release year of Coach House Rhythm Section though. I've seen conflicting years on various sites. Some say 1977 and some say 1979. But I knew that song was too disco sounding to have been recorded in 1982.
