Like he's trying way too hard even for a rehearsal (or especially for one). Some people on other sites said it's like a Broadway style dance and too effeminate for him (not that he wasn't a little bit but his MOVES never really were). Maybe this was one of those "walk throughs" that he didn't think the world would see. I read that MJ would "coast" through rehearsals and be Michael Jackson for the actual performance. ENTREVISTA: QUINCY JONES
"Michael Jackson no tenía tanto talento" IKER SEISDEDOS - Madrid - 14/09/2009 Translation: Interview:Quincy Jones "Michael Jackson did not have much talent" P. Did you thought he would be able to make the 50 concerts? R. No. I remember being in London where it sold out in a couple of hours. I called, was excited, beside himself. He said, "I'll do it for the kids." It was the last time we spoke. P. Did he talk about his children? R. Always. All the time. P. What's like to see canceled tribute concert in Vienna that his brother Jermaine has endeavored to ride? R. They asked for my participation. Everyone seems to organize concerts in memory of Michael. Do not count me out. The past is not for me. At the bottom of my heart I am a jazz musician and jazz musicians are not repeated. P. Was there competition between you? R. That’s really good! Of course not. I've worked with Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin and, above all, Ray Charles ... Think they'd be jealous of Michael Jackson? Michael did not have much talent. It was big, but did not play in the league of those just mentioned. I have seven children and participated in 40 movies. No time to waste on nonsense. P. Is it true that after his death you stated that Michael Jackson never wanted to be black? R. I would not get into that subject. P. Would you say died from a negligence medical? R. Even less I decide on that. P. Tried help? R. It was impossible. When you get so big, you stop listening. The big problem is the people around someone like that. They spend 24 hours saying how wonderful he is. It is not easy to overcome that. P. When I saw him last? R. I'll tell you better the first. He was 12. We were at home of Sammy Davis Jr. The whole interview in Spanish: http://www.elpais.com/art...icul_1/Tes "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. His talent remains undisputed. don't forget his long and destinguised career before Mike, and some of his killer albums, film scores and big band prodcutions. he for sure made a huge contribution as (co)producer with Mike, assembling musicians, helping select tracks, tracking the album, co-writing a track, and running the floor. getting the best performances and getting mike to open up songwriting wise. ain't no little deal what he did on those albums. And rod and the bros. johnson has no input on bad (LMAO at that) I didn't say The Johnsons and Rod had input on Bad. They did on OTW and Rod was heavily involved in Thriller. Bad was mostly MJ, Philliganes, Bottrell, and Quincy and his team [Edited 9/17/09 10:11am] "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. [Edited 9/17/09 10:07am] Indeed he did say that. Hey, Maybe Micahel wanted a friend to "keep it real" with him, but Quincy turned his back the second it was no longer cool to know him, so even if he reached out I don't think he would have got a response.

[Edited 9/17/09 10:07am] And yet I've read many interviews where Quincy has said MJ was like a son to him...Let's be real here...MJ and Q had a complicated relationship...And many of the negative stuff that was said (MJ has been on record from friends with some pretty dismissive comments about Q) was done so in the '90s after the two had falling out after the Bad album...Indeed, their relationship was rocky, but they publicly still stated their love and respect for each other in later years... All this to say that I've seen this Quincy-really-didn't-do-shit talk before...But usually it was found on MJ fan boards...For years the more hardcore MJ fans have attempted to take credit away from Q's impact on MJ's career...Frankly it's getting a little tired.... Q was a great producer...And he had a huge impact on MJ becoming the global superstar we know today just as much as MJ helped Quincy become a superstar producer beyond his days as a jazz, early pop, and soul producer....

Just say what he said was stupid and laughable as hell, admit it, dammit For quincy to say that Mj didn't have much talent when he was the one who wrote and comopsed his songs is really stupid , Mj was capable and incredible songwriter, I will never ever deny quincy's touch on Mj records, but it was Mj who created timeless melodies and classics like billie jean and beat it, obviously the age factor affected his brain, I lost alot of respect for him, because he said all of that after Mj's death, why after his death, thats my point. In the Halperin book I just read MJ really didn't want to do the tour because he would never be able to clear his debt and he wanted out.
In another BIO the Taraborrelli update it was describing MJ's later issues with Sony and how his spending habits overcame him. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page
