NO JACKSON TRIBUTE FOR BROWN DESPITE FAMILY BACKING

2009-09-08 23:45:05 -

CHRIS BROWN has not signed up to lead the musical tribute concert to MICHAEL JACKSON in Vienna, Austria - despite the tragic icon's brother JERMAINE backing him as the main headliner.

At a press conference in the European city on Tuesday (08Sep09), the Jackson 5 singer told reporters that disgraced Brown would take centre stage at the star-studded tribute for the late Thriller legend on 26 September (09).

He confirmed, "Michael was his idol and he (Brown) dedicated his first number one hit in the U.S. to Michael. Chris is a very, very talented artist." It was to be Brown's first time on stage since his brutal attack on ex-girlfriend Rihanna in February (09). He was sentenced to five years probation and six months hard community labour last month (Aug09).

And although Brown obviously has the support of the superstar clan, a rep for the shamed singer insists the Kiss Kiss hitmaker's appearance at the show has not been scheduled.

The spokesperson says, "Chris is not confirmed to perform or participate in any capacity for this show."

Other artists on the bill include Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole and Sister Sledge, as well as American boyband US5.

----
This is a mess, lol. Watch, Natalie's camp gonna deny it too.

this is gonna end up just like that Jackson Honors monstrocity that Jermaine stuffed down everyone's throat

yea i know right.. but I think that 'boyband was from the UK???

I found out they are german based.

US5 is a German-based multinational pop boy band. The band originated in 2005 on the German RTL II television reality show Big in America and debuted in June of the same year on Lou Pearlman’s Transcontinental label. US5 became successful throughout central Europe with their first album Here We Go and with several hit records thereafter.

someone was talking about them the other day saying they from UK

Surprise!

Jermaine Jackson will comeback!

Gans’ manager Chip Lightman tastefully chose the day of Michael Jackson’s funeral (pictures) to announce that he’s been hired by Jackson’s brother Jermaine to help launch a “comeback,” beginning with convention and corporate bookings.
According to Norm Clarke in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Lightman (known for phoning beauty queen-turned-TV entertainment reporter Alicia Jacobs in the early hours of May 1st to inform her that her good friend had been pronounced dead only minutes earlier) has not booked any Vegas gigs. Norm says Lightman “employed a similar strategy with Gans, who went on to become a Las Vegas headliner sensation.

“Lightman said Jermaine Jackson, who had limited success as a solo act, is putting together a show based on his hits (two top 10 entries), Jackson 5 hits and a tribute to Michael.
“Jermaine, who sang Michael’s favorite song, ‘Smile,’ at his brother’s memorial, plans to hire some of Michael’s musicians, said Lightman.

hate to be a neysayer - but I see this Vienna concert being a sad excuse for a tribute. For all their connections AEG should have been given the go ahead for a tribute show - and time to plan it and do it properly.

Astaire finds animal print fabric on the ground in the dancing clip.

The paparazzo in the "Billie Jean" video picks up the animal print fabric MJ used to wipe dust from his shoe. A very clever nod to Astaire.

The little symbols in Billie Jean are just endless. You can watch that video 100 times in a row and find something different each time.

I don't think breakdancing is one of MJ's influences. He said overall that his main influences were James Brown and Fred Astaire. But he did pick up the popping from I forget the guy's name. & he was influenced by mime (Marcel Marceau)as seen in his Human Nature performance. But Smooth Criminal was a full on homage to Fred. I think he died that year or around it.

I can't find the video montage where they had all 3 dancing. But that video you can clearly see how much Fred and Gene influenced him. It's very evident in most of his choreo. I think most people didn't pick up on it because they always say Elvis when it's clear he got inspiration from those two as well as James.

Breakdacing/bboying had a big impact on Michael's dancing along with Gene Kelly, Sammy Davis Jr., Fred Astaire, Bob Fosse, James Brown, and Jackie Wilson

You can kinda seperate popping from breakdancing, but not really because it's the same communities. I'm a popper and locker and I don't do stuff like the windmill or flares but I'm still a bboy cool

Oh wow, 3:58 onwards Beyonce totally copied that for her Naughty Girl video.

yea you're right still dirrty..
His name is marcel marceau.
Fred passed in June 1987 I believe,so yea because 'Bad' album came out that year.

The greats to me,are dancers artists known and unknown..as long as they're great.

They could have been poppers though. I don't see any breaking. Like some of the choreo in Smooth Criminal and Stranger in Moscow (History Tour), the later Billie Jean dance break, etc. all had popping elements to it.

Poppers and lockers are part of the b-boy/break dance culture though. You can say they were inspired by the mimes but also the dancers/hoofers from the first "soundies" whose dancing was similar to their moves and MJ's.

Right, MJ got his moves from the streets. kids back in the late 70's and 80's poppin and lockin' and ppl like james brown, fred astaire, jackie wilson & russian dancer baryshnikov etc. and put his own spin on it...that's what makes Michael an amazing talent in dance.
[Edited 9/9/09 4:06am]

Also:

Here's Baryshnikov. You can see Michael Could excel in any dance genre. As Baryshnikov a ballet dancer because ballet dancers go on their tip-toes..Michael had that in him as well.. Just a natural talent.

Jackie Wilson:

Well MJ's dancing is very complex, he made it his own so it's hard to tell which dance moves he was emulating even it was clear at points.

I agree...

Despite the fact that MJ created things on his own, I think he took something from his influences but he made it his own, he merged those moves with his style of dance, This is real artist.

There isn't any new information regarding unreleased material since the release of the first edition, or the author of the book knows something we really don't know?:hm:

Based on her tone, I'm suspicious that Oprah is going to be shady with her "tribute". She sounds like she doesn't even want to lower herself to do it but since it will bring in the ratings...she will.
