Dr. Kevorkian: Michael Jackson 'got what he wanted'
September 2, 2009

In his first national interview since being paroled, Dr. Jack Kevorkian spoke a few minutes ago on Fox News Channel's Your World With Neil Cavuto and the topic of Michael Jackson's death came up.

Cavuto asked if Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, might have committed murder by providing lethal amounts of prescription medication. "No, I don’t think he was malicious. Murder is defined by forethought …Did the doctor have forethought? I doubt it.” Added Kevorkian, 81, “The patient got what he wanted. He is the one who said yes or no to take a drug.”

It's the same scenario Kevorkian said applied to him as he helped terminally ill patients die, which eventually led to his eight-year prison sentence on second-degree murder charges. "I have no regrets. Everyone I helped welcomed death. I do what a physician should do -- what is best for the patient, period. If I did it with malice or forethought and without permission than I would be a murderer. But, they forgot the definition of murder when they criticized me; because it’s so negative, they win by fear.”

So will he go back to "helping" people die now? “No, why should I go to prison again? I lost 1/10th of my life already in prison; I’m not going to lose the rest at this age.”

I agree with his general points, but the difference in this case is that Jackson, while certainly wreckless in his behavior, probably didn't want to die, and Murray was grossly irresponsible in his actions.

I agree 100% it was not murder, but manslaughter doesn't seem far off the mark.

Harpo Productions announced Wednesday the episode, to air Sept. 16, will feature excerpts from Winfrey's 1993 interview with Jackson. Jackson died June 25 in Los Angeles. His death has been ruled a homicide.

According to a release from Harpo Productions, Winfrey will remember "the King of Pop with never-before-revealed personal details" from the interview.

Oprah is so damn phony. But anyways, I see that Dr. Kevorkian STILL doesn't understand why euthanasia is a crime.

i'm pretty shocked to hear this. it was my understanding that oprah has not had a lot of nice things to say about mj, or at the very least she has had other people like lmp and her momma, and chris rock on her show and laughed as they put him down. now she's dedicating a show to him? confused

I read this ladies blog where she talked about a show that Oprah did for parents who were living vicariously through their children, and she said that a guy stood up in the audience with his son,and told Oprah that he was managing his family the exact way Joe Jackson ran his. Oprah apparently went off on him,and defended Michael.

shut up and these are baby pictures. the kids are 4 and 5 years old in these. i have said many times that they looked whiter when they were little and that they have gotten darker as they've gotten older just like the many black and biracial people out there who are 4 or 5 shades darker at 20 then they were at 5.

and besides what picture are you looking at? prince and paris look slightly DARKER than the white kids to me. yep i just went to look at the picture again. if you look CLOSELY the other kids have a pinkish glow to their skin and prince and paris ARE slightly darker. not that it matters cause these are BABY PICTURES. lets see prince and paris next to those kids now and then you can talk.
