According to Andre, The Girls were assembled before Vanity 6 and The Mary Jane Girls were even conceptualized as a means of supplementing additional income while performing as Prince's bassist:
http://prince.org/msg/5/316694 The Girls are a perfect slice of 80's, New Wave Funk. While the album is collectively solid from beginning to end, S-E-S-E-X and Girl Talk are both tremendously intoxicating! [Edited 8/28/09 23:48pm] | |
