Keke Palmer has signed a contract to play Roxanne Shante in a new film about the legendary Juice Crew. In an interview with Giant magazine, “Akilah” has been inspired by Shante’s career and looks forward to other young black folks seeing the film. She says, ”Roxanne was 14 when she recorded those songs. She had it in her contract that the label would pay for her to finish high school and college - that’s inspiring.”

Palmer will join Diana Ross’ son Evan, who plays MC Shan, and Julito McCullum, who portrays Tragedy Khadafi in the project, titled Vapors. Nas and David Banner are also rumored to be involved in the film, playing Kool G Rap and Biz Markie respectively.
