VHS waiting for DVD release?

This is the time when I wish record companies cashed in . mad

I've been waiting for a long time for some VHS music videos see the light of day on DVD but? Nothing happens.

Which relases are you still expecting?

My picks:

Janet Jackson: "Janet", with the colored version of You Want This ans the making off the videos. I had to pay someone to put it on a disc.
Donna Summer: The video collection and a concert from the 1983 in LA.
Tori Amos: The NY concert for Rainn.

It's the same story with some records...

It seems... It's not gonna happen... soon.

Well, so much of it can be downloaded from the web. Sure a compressed file isn't the same, but I personally can't really be bothered to watch music videos over and over again as I might have done as a teenager.

I want Prince's Lovesexy tour on DVD.

Instead we got that shitty D&P video compilation. Nobody needed to be reminded how bad that was!

Prince - Lovesexy

Morrissey - Introducing Morrissey. Morrissey at the peak of his powers with a great backing back, supporting one of his best albums. I sold my cherished VHS of this as I don't have a VCR. mad

And I totally agree about the janet. video. I brought this up recently and no one seems to remember it. I used to watch it all the time. I thought for sure the color version of that song was on another compilation somewhere though.

Either way, I can't believe she had that one put on DVD.

I remember seeing an 1814 CD that had the RN DVD in it too for about $20. Had to be 2001 or 2002 that I saw that. Never did pick it up. I don't know if the RN1814 mini movie is on DVD or not (not the RN Compilation...I have that on DVD), but that would have been a great set to get. I've never seen it since.

Prince and the Revolution Live
Sign O The Times done right
Gett Off
3 Chains O' Gold

Any Prince stuff that was on VHS before could stand on DVD. Fans would buy it.

I finally found a great old comedy on DVD recently, Top Secret with a very young Val Kilmer. Such a funny movie. It was in the vein of Airplane and Naked Gun. I held onto a VHS I had for years until I finally found the DVD.

I didn't realize Moonwalker had not been released on DVD in the US.

IMO, they should put out a DVD with both "Captain EO" and "Ghosts" on it, as both are "mini-movies". Add a pro-shot Bad tour DVD to the list and I'd be happy, maybe Yokohama although since I already have that unofficially, maybe another show that hasn't been leaked lol

Prince-wise, the Prince & The Revolution LIVE and Lovesexy Tour NEEEEED DVD releases!!!!! I can't believe Prince hasn't done this yet. That'd be a moneyspinner for sure.

Amen to both of those. Ghosts was PAL VHS only, and I have that. I'd love to see it on DVD too. Dollars to donuts all of those things will eventually see the light of day. As Whoopi said, "Michael is the gift that keeps on giving."

They should have put the Making of thriller on the 25th anniversary CD..

I remember when VH1 used to show the making of thriller i still have that recorded on VHS.

There is just so much unreleased MJ stuff that he should have released while he was alive. This man has already made 100 million since death and now they say by the end of this year it will go up to 200 million.

nod to both. I really want a copy of 'Moonwalker', whether on VHS or DVD because it's not easy to find nowadays.

lol When I started working at Epcot in the Disney World Resort a few years ago, I asked soo many people, 'Where is the Captain EO ride located?' I kept searching for it and could never find it and most of the people that I asked had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, an older castmember told me exactly where it had been before it was closed back in the mid-90s. Man, I was super pissed at that news for a while. Theme parks do that for some stupid reason. I'm still pissed they closed down the 'Back To The Future' and 'King Kong' rides here at Universal Studios Florida, but kept the shitty 'Earthquake' and 'Twister' rides open. confused rolleyes...God, they suck. Plus, they totally screwed up Nickelodean. Man, if they close 'E.T.' and 'Terminator 3-D', I will be protesting. hmph!

Sorry, rant got a little off-topic. boxed

I still have the original Moonwalker VHS that I've owned since I was 3 years old smile

And I have the official DVD release that came out here in the UK a few years ago.

I've only just found out from this thread that that DVD release didn't come out in the US. You should get yourself a regionless DVD player and buy a UK DVD from ebay.co.uk.

I bought a regionless DVD player for just £20 ($40 or so) new on ebay a few years ago as I always buy lots of DVD's when I'm touring with my band in the states.
