Queens of the Stone Age are making the nicest noise at the moment. Dave was only the guest-drummer for 'Songs For The Deaf', he is not an official member of QOTSA. He is a likable person, very funny and the Foo's have gotten better & better!

I agree.. I dont think he's Prince 00's, I think its funny he likes Prince, since I'm sure Nirvana had NOTHING to do with Prince (influence or anything)..

Dave Grohl FUCKING RULES!!! He's funny as hell and I love his music... ***************************************************
Seems like the overly critical people are the sheep now days. It takes guts to admit that you like something. -Rdhull ...it ain't where ya from, it's where ya at... - Rakim

Saw him on Letterman one time praising Prince as well. He talked about how Prince was the "greatest musician alive" and bragged about how Prince's concert was basically Prince running from instrument to instrument to jam (about the Jam of the Year Tour, believe it or not). Since Grohl has done the "one man band" thing (first Foo Fighters album), I think his opinion is even more impressive.

Did you all know that Dave played the demon in that Tenacious D 'Tribute'-video? Fucking hilarious!

Yeah, I know that Mr Grohl only guested on Songs for the Deaf...I believe that QOTSA only have now settled on a four piece line up...their first two albums have different cast-lists.
What I was getting at about Grohl "being Prince" is his creativity, his generosity and his humour...and the fact that he appears on quite a few band's CDs ... in a sort of parody of Prince having to create his competition in the early eighties...y'know, he's here, he's there, he's everywhere sort of thang.

to be humorous like Prince...
Josh Homme (also from Kyuss) and Nick Olivieri are the only permanent members of QOTSA [This message was edited Thu Jul 10 4:22:27 PDT 2003 by abierman]

I love Dave Grohl. He just seems down to earth and a great musician. I've seen the Foo Fighters and I saw him play a small club with Queens. I don't think he's ever played drums like that (even w/Nirvana) just heavy and cool.
As far as the Prince reference (IMO) he's not close to being compared (yet).

A comparison between Prince and Dave Grohl?
They come from two very different backgrounds. Other than the fact that Mr. Dave just LOVES Prince, (check out all the references to Prince on the FooFighters web site), they seem to have pretty different tastes in music. Dave does seem to play quite a few instruments tho, like Prince. Dave Grohl also seems 100x more friendly, down to earth, and sociable at his shows and interviews, than I have ever seen Prince be. I would feel comfortable sitting in a room BSing with Dave Grohl, not Prince. I dig both of them alot, but for different reasons.

I've just a real good vibe thang about Mr G ... like I had when Mr P started to penetrate my world.
Mr G makes me laugh...he has a sense of humour that suggests he digs both laughing and laughing...something I used to associate with Prince. Prince still records stuff like the Wedding Feast...nhe still likes the laugh.
