Like you I'm also a bigger fan of his later music especially History and BOTDF, but Invincible just does not cut it for me. Its definetley my least favourite along with Off The Wall. Theres just too many songs, which means too many fillers. This album just bores me really (which is the same reason I'm not really into Off The Wall) There are a few gems in there for me, actually I was going to rattle them off but I realised it was over half the album. Basically its a fairly good effort but the only absolute outstanding song to me is 'You Rock My World', while the rest of the majority I like but am not in love with, while the bad songs on the album are just plain worst songs of his career which is why it makes the album seem so horrid.

The Jacksons albums of around the same time are far far superior. Well to me of course. The one standout track is 'Don't Stop Till You Get Enough', the rest are average but good. There arent any horrible ones on Off The Wall like there is on Invincible but I like the average songs better on Invincible then I do on Off The Wall

Most underrated album of MJ. Some of the best tracks he's ever done I think, they're just not that well known due to the Sony row at the time and bad promotion. Album was still no 1 in a couple of countries just not USA I believe. Oh well...a thread about a 10$ decision...and you can listen to stuff online as a preview... Get the CD...it has some good moments... I upgraded and completed my MJ collection just out of respect after his death. Didn't cost me a fortune and was a no brainer...honestly. "We are the freaks that want everything now!"

"Heaven Can Wait" is the best song on the entire album!!! My favorite tracks on the album:
Heaven Can Wait Butterflies You Rock My World Invincible Unbreakable Don't Walk Away You are My Life (I use to hate this song, but ever since his passing, I've grown into it.) While I agree, "Whatever Happens" is a great song, I usually listen to the first minute, and then change it.

Those are my favourites too but I would add these to the list Cry Speechless Break of Dawn - really smooth funky sexy song "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

Comparing Invincible with Off the Wall is like comparing 3121 with 1999. You just do not want to compare. Two totally different albums with different reactions.

My twelve track Invincible:
1. Unbreakable 2. Heartbreaker 3. Break of Dawn 4. Heaven Can Wait 5. Xscape 6. Speechless 7. You Rock My World (single edit without the Chris Tucker intro) 8. Butterflies 9. We've Had Enough 10. Whatever Happens 11. The Lost Children 12. Threatened You Are My Life and Shout could be b-sides. Privacy, Don't Walk Away, Cry and Invincible should never have made it past the cutting room floor. Invincible is a great album. People's (the media) focus was no longer on the music unfortunately.
Heaven Can Wait, Break of Dawn, Whatever Happens, You Rock My World, Butterflies are my favorites. The album could be trimmed a bit, but overall a very good album. How can I stand 2 stay where I am? / Poor butterfly who don't understand.

I actually love the title track... especially the ending when the piano kicks in.. very "You Rock My World"-esque.

It's not my favorite, but I don't find it bad.
"The Lost Children" would be a lot better without the children's choir. It's too corny for me to listen to on a regular basis, which sorta sucks because the Irish-vibe he gave it and his layered vocals are really, really cool.

Other than that, MJ sounds nice singing baritone on the chorus.

Clive Davis had nothing to do with MJ. Clive Davis left Sony in the 70s. You should get Invincible. If you like the "new" tracks on Blood on the Dancefloor, there's a good chance that you'll like Invincible. It's worth it for these trax: Unbreakable You Rock My World Butterflies Break of Dawn Speechless Whatever Happens These songs are (to me) the core of the album. But on topic, BUY THE ALBUM, it's great I love it. If you like R&B it has some R&B jams on there. I was pleasantly surprised. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.
