Anyone out there ever tried to play Stones stuff on a Tele, tuned to open G like Keef?
It sounds THE BUSINESS! This is not an exit

The Edge??? Dude can barely play. Also, Danny Gatton should be mentioned as one of the greatest ever. "He's a musician's musician..."

Also, don't forget James Burton, Steve Cropper, and Roy Buchanan... also Jeff Beck used a Tele in the early days! "He's a musician's musician..."

Some of those guys mentioned are Telecaster Holders not players.
I'll add. Danny Gatton Brent Mason Albert Lee Steve Morse "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Sly and Freddie Stone
Ed Bickert (jazz player) Tony Maiden Susan Tedeschi (last time I saw her she was playing one) Audley Freed Elliot Easton (solo in "Best Friend's Girlfriend" and "Just What I Needed") Jeff Buckley

One one....Mike Stern | |

I don't think Prince falls in this catagory. He plays a Hohner, not a Tele.

Co-sign. Mike Stern is the man. How'd I forget him?
But hasn't he played a Yamaha Pacfica Tele for the last decade? Nice ax but heavy as hell.

^ I don't see the point in having a Telecaster if you're going to make it sound like any number of "rock" axes sound.. Surely you buy a Tele for that twang?!
I got mine cos I was going through a huge Stones phase at the time and I wanted to sound like Keef! This is not an exit

I got mine cos I was going through a huge Stones phase at the time and I wanted to sound like Keef! I think some players like the way the Tele looks, but have it modified (pickups, paint, etc) to fit their style. If you like Telecasters, Check out John 5's collection:

If you don't mind the suggestion I would wait and save a little more and get one of these. You'll be happier with the quality. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page
