This is not only my all time fave song from The Commodores but it's one of my all time favorite songs by ANYONE. I have loved this damn near as long as I have been living. I used to play this song so much when I was really little. Those keyboard strings and Lionel's phrasing and his Sugarfoot "Owwwaahh" is very similar to "I Want To Be Free" by the Ohio Players.

I still have my 45 of this song.

I love it. One of my favorite songs from them. I hear it occasionally on a few oldies stations, but not too often.

Aaaah yeah...Understand me now, I never stated that I didn't like Zoom. I LOVE Zoom,...especially the live version from Commodores Live 77. Zoom is my second fave from them. But This Is Your Life, to me, is some bangin' Ohio Players meets Paul McCartney "Baby I'm Amazed" type shit! razz

I don't hear it AT ALL on my stations. Only cuts they play is "Zoom", "Just to Be Close to You", "Brickhouse", "Easy", "Three Times a Lady" and, on occasion, "Jesus is Love", "Sweet Love" and "Sail On" but NEVER "This Is Your Life".

We have an oldies AM station that plays EVERYTHING. They play some really good old soul. A lot of the stuff they play is long out of print. They feature the Commodores on Saturdays about twice a year. They always play this song along with "Machine Gun", "I Feel Sanctified", "Slippery When Wet", "Fancy Dancer", and a few others that never hardly get airplay.

XM also plays a good variety of Commodores on Soul Town and The Groove. Especially on Friday and Saturday.

Love this song music I have all of the Commodores' 70s albums on vinyl. It's a shame that Motown is neglecting their catalog disbelief By now,all of those albums should be remastered.
