Michael reached a point in his addiction where he could no longer think clearly or make rational decisions when it came to appropriate and inappropriate usage of these pharmaceuticals. Couple that with his inability to sleep, another inhibitor of rational thinking, and you have a man who was at the mercy of his supposedly sane, lucid, experienced and professional doctor. Before you all go on a lynch mob after this doctor, remember that it was Michael who chose him to be his personal physician in the first place, and that he was getting paid by AEG to make sure that he was ready for this concert tour. Now as a physician he should have known better than to administer a whole cocktail of drugs during such a short period of time, but if Michael had been awake for more than 24 hours and was screaming for him to administer this Propofol or else he was fired, he probably would have been sued by AEG for not doing his duties (although it would have been the correct action in the first place).

What's tragic is that because a beloved pop icon is dead, there's intense public pressure to pin the blame on someone for his death, yet it was Michael Jackson himself who was on this path of destruction. It's well known that he had been an addict since at least 1993, and he'd been shopping around for drugs and doctors since 2002.

I often wonder what would have happened if a successful intervention was done by his family. This guy I knew had gotten so bad that his mom had him Baker-acted. He was court ordered to rehab while she took care of his affairs...that's the only reason he's alive and clean today.

LOS ANGELES — A lawyer for Michael Jackson's personal doctor says police have twisted his client's account of the singer's last hours.

Dr. Conrad Murray never told detectives he left Jackson and returned to find he had stopped breathing at 11 a.m. on June 25, attorney Edward Chernoff said in a statement late Monday.

That was one of the assertions in court papers, unsealed Monday, that are part of the investigation into how Jackson died. Chernoff called much of what's in the affidavit, which Los Angeles Police filed to search Murray's Texas clinic last month, "police theory."

The Los Angeles Coroner's office has ruled Jackson's death a homicide caused by a mix of drugs meant to treat insomnia, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.
