The Talent of Cheryl Lynn

I've decided that she's my FAVORITE FEMALE singer! music dancing jig boogie

"Got to Be Real" is my all-time favorite song, but, I'm sitting here jamming all by myself to:

And I will stop what I'm doing to appreciate:

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

"Shake It Up Tonight" is my favorite song by her headbang A big hit in the summer of '81.Produced by Ray Parker Jr.and featuring his funky guitar throughout.

My other favorite is "Encore",produced by Jam and Lewis music

She's had some great singles,it's a shame that her 'Best Of' CD is such a disappointment. It leaves off a few singles and doesn't even include the 12" version of "Encore" (a must-have!).It also includes too many mediocre album tracks.

I was thinking the same thing Soul. So, tell me, what songs what have been on Cheryl Lynn's Best Cd if you could choose?

They should have included these singles:

"In The Night" (1981)---the second single from this album.
"Instant Love" (1982)---the first single from her Luther Vandross-produced album of the same name.

They also should have included the full-length version of "Got To Be Real",as well as the 12" version of "Encore".

Her 1987 single "New Dress" (produced by Bernadette Cooper) would have been a nice addition too.

With an artist like Cheryl Lynn (who, let's face it,hasn't had alot of hits),there is no reason to release a skimpy compilation that leaves off a few hits. Also,no need for single edits, either.

Thank you Soul. hug I haven't listened to "New Dress" in a looong time, I'm going to have to pull that one up. Cheryl Lynn was blessed with such immense talent; why her career wasn't bigger is a mystery to me.

Cheryl Lynn, another brilliant singer who was enormously underrated. Her "Instant Love" and "In The Night" albums/CDs are stone-cold classics!!! I still listen to both of these CDs like they were just released this year! biggrin

It's too bad she didn't have a more prolific career. With a voice like that she sure as hell deserved it.

Those are two of my favorites and also "Star Love". I love "Got To Be Real" but it's been overplayed so much that I'm tired of hearing it.
