Not true. She edited I'm Going To Tell You A Secret to make it seem RIT was an AL tour, same for the live CD, she ignored most of the classics but almost every AL track got included.

I'm sure she considers the AL video as something never happened, after all, it was never shown in most countries. If it ever gets officially released, it'll be on the RIT DVD as a bonus backdrop video, otherwise this will remain "unreleased" like the Holiday video, just that you can find it online.

Just that we had false hopes about it being released sometime later, but there were no signs for Madonna changing her mind at all. It was meant to be on IMGTTYAS DVD but didn't happen in the end.

If Madonna was embarrassed by the whole AL project, we would not be getting Hollywood on both the CD and DVD. But Warner is probably embarrassed by AL the single and that's why Hollywood was chosen.

Then it's OK. razz

It's weird to see fans' reactions on other boards, like "Madonna has no balls anymore" just because she will never release AL video. It is one of my favs, but because of the effects and she looks so great it in, but not because of its "message" which is hardly as strong as LTT on CT or Get Stupid on current tour.

the message is useless, unless you're Paul McCartney or some other member of the billionaire's club.

Is Madonna lamenting about her bodyguard or five, her trainer and a butler etc?

Us ordinary people will never live that life, so M doesn't need to tell us how crap it is.

I was starting to claim down about this but when you see a half hearted video like "Jump" (at least from Madonna's standpoint....what is the reason for her being on that tiny and very busy soundstage), it really makes you think that she's lost her damn mind!

BTW, you know that it's been reported that Madonna was booed in some country for defending gypsies....I think the real reason is because of the leaked tracklists!

hmmm so,it looks like these are the *missing* videos....

Everybody
Oh Father
This Used To Be My Playground
Bad Girl (arguably her best video)
Fever
Love Don't Live Here Anymore
You Must Love Me
Drowned World/Substitute For Love
Nothing Really Matters
American Life

Most of these videos are easy to find elsewhere, but it's a shame that the original,un-edited "American Life" video isn't on this set.I was hoping that it would finally get an official release, now that the anti-war controversy of 2003 has died down considerably.

Some good news: the "Justify My Love" video has some extra footage that we've seen never seen before. We will finally get to see the full,un-edited video.

I can't even fathom leaving out "Oh Father" or "Bad Girl", her two greatest videos, in my opinion. What a farce!

I couldn't agree more.

the only time madonna ever got it right as far as tracklisting for a GH or a setlist for a tour was BLOND AMBITION. that setlist was SUPERB - good mix of her last studio album (LAP), her new studio release (Im Breathless), and classic hits, plus fan faves (Keep it Together, Where's the Party). Yes, Burning Up would have been a welcome addition - but other than that it was SPOT ON.

Then

Immaculate Collection lacks Who's That Girl, Causin A Commotion, Dress You Up

Girlie Show had I'm Going Bananas?!?!?! But she left out Bad Girl? Huh? And it could have used one or two more classic oldies.

Something To Remember - overall FANTASTIC collection, but could have used The Look of Love, Love Tried to Welcome me, etc

Video Collection 93:99 left out the brilliant Erotica video, Deeper and Deeper, I'll Remember, You'll See but included that god awful Love Don't Live Here Anymore piece

Drowned World - only TWO eighties songs?!?!?! First Madonna tour in 8 years?!?! You mean she couldn't have thrown in Gambler in the punk section, Borderline as an acoustic after I deserve it or - shit, even Jimmy Jimmy would have upped the nostalgia excitement!

GHV2 - mess. NO new tracks and the ballad version of DCFMA made the cut????!?!?!?! Shit, YMLM is better!

Remixed and Revisited - really needed to be beefed up with some extra shit.

Reinvention - oye, she almost had it with this one! The AL songs she used, though, didn't help matters (except Nobody Knows Me), esp that god awful acoustic 'rap' in Mother and father. Die Another Day was hated by many, then followed by the LAMENT of EVITA? it's supposed to be a Greatest Hits show!!! No Like A Virgin here - but oh, good, LAMENT made the evening. As did .... "Imagine?!?!?!?"

Confessions Tour - ok, ok, i love Confessions and all, it was a great record on wax - but LIVE. we did not need ten prerecorded tracks off that record - too many album tracks in a row in every section.

Sticky & Sweet - ditto confessions - and The Devil Wouldn't Recognize you was the centerpiece of the show. REALLY!?

Celebration - no deeper and deeper, no rain, no you'll see, no I want you, no gambler, no Angel...goes on and on.

Celebration DVD - really could throw in one or two classic live performances and scrape that garbage "Jump" video (great song tho) and could give the fans AT LEAST the original AL.

Seeing the confessions tour live I thought the flow was PERFECT! the opening was brilliant and the set list was filled with new and old and Let it Will be followed by DW/SFL was FANTASTIC. WE CAN DO ANYTHING!

and personally I love the rap on Mother and Father, no its not good for a rap song, but I think its decent, at least she doesn't mention a "double shotay"

no no no! don't mess with Die Another day, that is MY JAM!

About the missing videos

Everybody (crap, I don't give a damn about it)
Oh Father (its omission it's a major insult)
This Used To Be My Playground (another major insult)
Bad Girl (THE INSULT WHAT THE FUCKKKK!?)
Fever (unessential)
Love Don't Live Here Anymore (unessential)
You Must Love Me (important omission)
Drowned World/Substitute For Love (unessential)
Nothing Really Matters (unessential)
American Life (who gives a damn about that cynical, bitter, boring video?)

Anyway, it's bizarre and irritating the fact that the DVD's track-list, even with this omissions, is better (and larger) than CD'sm track-list; who or what is to blame? arrow THE FUCKING CD CAPACITY...
Still, the DVD is so good that out of the blue "Celebration" has become the closest thing to a "definitive" Madgie's box-set...

Well the Blonde Ambition tracklist was not all that much. It had Where's The Party after all which is a horrible song. And no Dear Jessie.

I think the Re-Invention tour tracklist was far better and I do love Mother And Father especially the live version from that tour. Overall The Virgin Tour & The Girlie Show remain my favourite Madonna tours and Who's That Girl remains my least favourite but in terms of tracklists I think her two first tours are the only ones including all the major hits up to their time.

As far as compilations are concerned Celebration is the best. Sure a lot of songs are missing but it is still better than the remixes on TIC and the mess of GHV2. A compilation which is perfect is TIC DVD. Only one great video is missing (Burning Up) and there are no unessential videos there. There is even the not-so-live performance of Vogue in the end. That collection was the closest she came to perfection in a Greatest Hits project for me. Then the Celebration DVD, then the Celebration CD

second best so far.

IT's straight from the video, right?

Some fans are already complaining and calling M's scenes "GI2M and Jump Part 2" which means nothing positive.

Yeah, it's from the video.

You can't please them all. I like It when she pumps! lol Plus, the hair fits.

I like it as well. I also like the scene with Jesus deejaying. I don't think he's the best looking guy ever, but he has something interesting and his body is cool.

Can't belive his father is abnormaly fat.

We all know it was billed as a greatest hits show to move tickets. it never was intended to be that though it was the only tour to feature songs from every studio album.

I really cant remember the RIT ever being billed as a greatest hits tour but if it was it was accurate. in spite of how heavy it was loaded with AL, it was the antithesis to the dour drowned world tour....tracks from every album...no pathetic ham fisted atempt at a recurring narrative.

I think mother and father is a highly underrated track in her catalogue, but i agree no one needed her cover of Imagine.

Stars moarning bout their wealth and fame annoy me

the message was surely that aspiring to these material things wont bring you happiness....not i hate my life ...pity me. i hate the way people dismiss celebrities for what they say on the grounds that they're not qualified. since when in the free world are people not qualified to have an opinion??? madonna is never gonna make sense in an intellectual respect.....just as politicians dont.....its too easy to hold their faults against them, but i do believe people are too quick to accuse her of preaching and arrogance, when she is simply trying to convey a simple message of good and pure intent.

to me, it's just kind of disingenuous. it's a "do as i say, not as i do" kind of message that i get from the American Life album. because, it's not like she's actually giving up her fortune and fame while telling us that it's not what's the most important in life or all it's cracked up to be.

and mostly, it's just not a very relatible message. i mean, one or two songs on the subject would have been fine, but with that album, she got a little MJ on us where practically every song is a message about the pitfalls of fame.

and maybe from HER point of view, being a celebrity and having been obsessed with the quest for it at one point in her life, she thinks that everyone is too obsessed with fame and celebrity, but that's not really my experience. tabloid tv and magazines, for the most part, in my view and based on my observation of the people around me is something to glance at in the supermarket or while you're flipping channels or some juicy, distracting water-cooler talk. but no one i know really gives much of a damn about it. or maybe i live in a place where - and surround myself with - people are more preoccupied with more important things in life.

shrug

do love the album though lol
