I don't think this letter is harsh at all, if anything, Mariah should read it. She's been quite desperate in recent years and I believe she will do anything just to stay on top. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ms. Bergerstein"open letter" to Ms. Carey wasn't a letter of constructive criticism. Instead, her essay or letter was a lazy, predictable, hatchet job from a newspaper columist who probably happened upon a slow day. Ms.Bergerstein 300 word essay was filled with postshots and trite comments about Ms. Cary's mental health issues and personal life. Please explain, give me specifics', on why you enjoyed/liked her albums/music before 98 and how you think she lost her way afterwards. At best, Ms. Bergerstein offers up one, two, three, or maybe four sentences of substance while throwing low blows above and below the belt; she wrote herself right out of having any credibility to be taken seriously or having had someting to say of merit. Perhaps all the criticism is an attempt to push her over the edge and force her into another "meltdown" which will result in more tabloid headlines and prolonged careers for the haters/bloggers/anchor persons.

Truth hurts, I think, oh well....
The journalist seemed to be spot on to me. People need to stop worshiping these music stars. They piss, shit, vomit and smell funky from time to time like everybody else. (Well some smell all the time like Dwayne Wiggins of Tony, Toni, Tone). Mariah Carey is just like Puffareena (a/k/a Diddy), Beyonce`, Lil Wayne (a/k/a Mrs. Baby Williams) and The uglyforeheadmoonbeamalien of life - Robyn Rihanna Fenty, they are excessive, over-exposed and we get totally sick of them. Go away for long periods, where perhaps you are missed and then comeback - or maybe in Puffyetta's case, stay away forever - what was your relvance anyway? Music Royalty in Motion

I'm not a Mariah fan but people who spend the time writing 'open letters' need to rent a life. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I do not like Mariah but I think it is her right to do whatever she pleases. She has been around 20 years in business, she had a massive comeback so she must have been doing something right. She is not my kind of music at all but enough people like her as it is and if she chooses to stay hip and pop, fine with me. If you don't like her just don't buy her cds.
And yes Mariah re-train your voice and keep your husband as long as you like

Mariah's marriage to Nick Cannon, a publicity stunt????
If it were a publicity stunt, it was clearly to benefit him! If it weren't for the marriage to Mariah, somehow I doubt if he would have landed that spot on America's Got Talent. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I would like to see an open letter to a tabloid writer, which points out that he NEVER accomplished ANYTHING, and now feels he has the right to criticize and also the insight to give advice.

Co-sign. Not that she and Tommy haven't done things to get Mariah to the top of various charts... kitbradley said: Mariah's marriage to Nick Cannon, a publicity stunt????

Yeah, because they're all about talented a-listers like Sharon Osbourne and the Hoff... • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I agree, she has seriously lost it. She is a supremely talented singer, but with all this rent a rapper (I love that statement) and (bad movie/look at me I am a 39 year old want to be 17 year old ho crap), she is just becoming tragic. Her best albums were actually the first two (Mariah Carey and Emotions) full of positive pop and some soaring ballads like I don't wanna cry and he first hit Vision of Love (That was a great ballad) . And then you have the high notes in Someday and Emotions. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Don't count her out just yet...
Mariah Carey Goes Top 10 On Billboard Hot 100 September 10 After eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Obsessed," Mariah Carey leaps over the top 10 hurdle as the song breaks through to No. 7. "Obsessed" spent the last three weeks at No. 11, just shy of the top tally, but jumps to No. 7 this week - making the song Carey's 27th top ten on the chart. That puts her in a tie for fifth place (with Elton John and Janet Jackson) for most top 10s in the history of the Hot 100. Ahead of Carey on the tally are Madonna (37), the Beatles (34) and Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder (28 each). "Obsessed" holds at No. 7 on Hot 100 Airplay and returns to the top 10 of Hot Digital Songs (courtesy of 72,000 downloads last week). http://www.billboard.com/...0990.story
