I reliazed, not to long ago, that the thing I hate most about MJ is the way he pronounces words....over pronounce, slur...all that shit....3/4 of the time I don't know what he's saying.....his singing is alright to me...it would be GREAT if he could pronounce words intelligibly

I think it's just his Michael Jackson "persona" that causes him not to enunciate. He did when he was younger. I like it. cool I always found it funny.

okay....

the bassline along with everything else is cool as heell...the whole package is great...but the bassline is just alright. If you were to look at it in ters of someone speaking...there's not a lot of style to it...it's just off center of a run of the mill sentence....

elaborate on your "okay...."

also i want to correct my first post....it read that the bassline is what makes the song. I meanbt it the other way around....it's NOT what makes the song.

You met and shook Thunder Thumbs' hand?! That's golden! smile

I would have been thinking about "Stomp," or "Get On The Floor" rather than "Billie Jean." lol I like when LJ slaps & pops more than anything.

The drums are live on that sucka too. Only found out reading Bruce Swediens posts on gearslutz the other day, i've not read the credits for years, i was amazed.

The whole song is amazing, i love everything about it, it's one of those songs i've never skipped, never got bored of, i just can't. MJ's lead vocal is one take, the strings, the little flourishes, the backing vox, so much to listen to and find new things in it (even after a zillion listens!).

It's never stopped getting played in bars and clubs since it came out, so easy to hear why. it's pure ear candy. Michaels zenith really as an artist, after the Motown25 performance it was the start of the decline (starting with the Victory tour), I don't think it ever came together again for him as perfectly as it did with Billie Jean again.

But this here song will be around as long as humans are on the planet.

Louis also got inspiration from "Beat It" and wrote a similar sounding track called "Kinky" for his "Evolution" album.
