I've always wondered if Barry wrote this and "Never Ever Gonna Give You Up" at or around the the same time, being that they have the exact same backbeat/melody.....I heard that Bobby and Thomas DeBarge were a part of his backing band b4 they formed "Swtich",and I also heard that Ray Parker Jr.(Raydio) played guitar on a few of his songs before he joined Motown's new studio band.....

He originally did the song as a demo for a male singer he was working with and hearing the demo, someone or something in his mind said to Barry that the song could only be sung by him. He was a very reluctant singer at best but when his record label convinced him to release it and it became successful, that started everything for him.

Mr. White a very underrated songwriter, I think. "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More Baby" responsible for doubling US population that year. biggrin

Yeah, Barry was the man, his music IMO is in a class all by itself. He's like a funky, soulful composer. Like Funk meets classical meets soul. 3some

Great songs, some similarities, but whereas Isaac was the master of message soul, Barry was the master of bedroom soul, he took the Isaac Hayes sound, added some more wah wah and bass and put in the bedroom.
I love the bedroom patter - oh baby and all that. Michael Winslow does some funny versions of Barry White talk in Police Academy 3 and 5 "The Love Doctor wants you to come here baby"
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time
