madonna's albums arent always better than Janets in my opinion either but when Madonna comes out she does indeed SUPPORT her albums and image and never sees fault in anything she does. When Janet comes out she does the same ol, "well Im pretty and shy and here's my legs..and I just want to be free and happy". And while that is ok...she isnt doing anything interesting to grab hold of her old consumers nor is she grabbing the attention of the youngins.

Once she gets out of the Mid-Age rut I believe she will have her feet planted again. She is strong, she just has to take control again. madonna always have had control of her music and image...Mariah and Janet kind of lost track in between the lines after 1998 somewhere.

Janet is the better actress and dancer to me.
Madonna is the better businesswoman and more media savvy.

Musically, I think that they both have great songs and concert performances. However, I've remained more a Janet fan than a Madonna fan over the years...outgrew Madonna after 'Bedtime Stories'. If I had to pick one to actually hang out with, it would definitely be Janet because Madonna would probably try to convert me to Kabbalah and I'd have to smack her.

So, Janet wins it for me. I'd love to see an actual showdown between the two...DANCE OFF!!!! But, they can't have any back-up dancers. Honestly, more than 4 back-up dancers is distracting and annoying to me because the only thing that goes through my mind is they are trying to hide the fact that the artist really isn't that great of a dancer. Geniunely good dancers can do just fine on their own. Just my

As much as I find Janet to be the superior dancer and overall entertainer, I have to admit that Madonna's career has been much more interesting to me. I will never forget her seeing her "Lucky Star" and "Borderline" videos and not being able to turn away. By the time Janet rolled around, I felt as though I'd sort of seen it all or something. Janet had good songs and choreography, but between Michael's raw gifts and Madonna's boldness and magnetism, Janet always felt kinda second tier to me.

I love them both. I have since I was small child. However there is a clear winner in this for me.

Madonna wins hands down. She is the whole package. Performance artist, Singer, Dancer, Producer, Songwriter, Media Mogul, Actress, Activist, Force of Nature, Global Phenomenon, Cultural Wave Maker, and fashion icon.

She's the most famous woman in the world, she reshaped the cultural landscape and is the "image" most female performers try to emulate, not necessary the style but the image. Her shows to me are much more entertaining where as Janet's tours are more or less by the numbers time for this number. I love how Madonna incorporates fashion, music, video, dance, and various messages together into her tours. You can tell she puts a lot of thought into what is on the stage and she's fearless when it comes to do that, doing what she wants to do versus the what the fans want. Madonna is the more versatile dancer. Janet seems to just do hip hop. Madonna has made more daring musical choices and videos. Janet seems to have lost the fire and is going through the motions.

this proves that even if the dance that went with the video is just as iconic as the song, something else can be performed and still be good.

-Madonna's catalog is much more varied, but thus more spotty
-I think of Madonna as more of a performance Artist
-I do appreciate that every video, every performance of every single, every tour setlist is DIFFERENT with Madonna

-Janet's slow jams kick Madonna's overall catalog's ass
-Janet is prettier and more pleasing to my eye as a dancer, entertainer
-Janet is the better dancer
-Janet's music is funkier and more soulful and more consistent

-All For You is the weakest of any of their albums, however
-then again, every release since 2003/2004 Janet wins hands down in my cd player
-I wish Janet would try Madonna's template ONCE of doing a show that includes mostly all her latest record (so Many "Discipline" songs I wanted to hear/see on tour - Can't B Good, RollerCoaster, What's Ur Name, Curtains, The One) AND a few classics (throw in Pleasure Principle, If, Anytime Anyplace, Got Til It's Gone, That's the Way Love Goes) and some obscurities (Don't Stand Another Chance, Like You Don't Love Me, Someday is Tonight, Free Xone)

-I do love them both. Both my number 2 and number 3 (Depending on the day) female artists (but then some days Tina is Number 2, some days Tori is, lol)

-Neither is as dope as Ms. Badu
