Do you often make mixtapes that make no sense to anyone else

Especially when merely perusing the tracklist?

I am going to post a mix on my Facebook page soon that probably will be enjoyed most by myself. lol

when i lived in new york, i used to make subway survival mixes. this was in the old timey days before iPod shuffle play, so i had to create random mixes in my head, burn them to discs, and carry them with my discman. god, times were so hard back in the 20th century...

nod That "survival" mindstate is what I'm applying to mixtapes/playlists these days, because it has to be crucial enough to listen in sequence rather then 16 more shuffled tracks.

falloff I'm going through all my mixtapes (CDs) right now and have confused even my damn self with the shit that I put on some of them. My roommate once said to me, "So, where's the Prince song on this one, because I know it's got one rolleyes " lol . I got the same song on more than one disc mainly because I was probably hooked on that song during that time, needed to fill space with something, and my old car CD player wouldn't allow me to fast-forward or rewind at times...bitch-ass stereo mad I let my friend go all "'Office Space' fax machine' on it after I got a new one. lol

i used to make the subway survival mix CDs so i could listen to them on shuffle on my discman...that way, it would take me longer to get bored with the comp.

I still make tapes every now and then, though I don't have anyway to listen to them except in my bedroom. Kinda pointless. Found some mixdiscs last night that were full of random goodness. Meshuggah next to Zero 7, followed up by Muse. Typical fare when I get to making mixes.

Every day - damn near.

I record everything! I practice my mixing 3-5 nights a week at home and I have maybe close to 500 CDs of me mixing. I rarely have an outline or set list - I just GO.

I think that's one of the reasons why I don't buy any music from new artists even on the rare occasion that I hear a new song that I like. Because I don't like to just sit and listen to music by only one artist, I like to place the songs inbetween songs by other artists in either a mix or some type of flow or theme. It sounds totally rediculous and makes no sense when listening to 50 old songs and then, all of a sudden, one little new song comes on. It's just totally out of place. lol

Yup. They usually reflect a certain mood I'm in, or a certain theme for the day, but then the artists I choose will be so random. On one mix you can end up with Little Dragon, Kathleen Battle, LTD, Bjork, Minnie Ripperton, Pat Metheny, and the Noisettes. Even more bizarre are my mix titles, including but not limited to: "Pristine White Kitchen", "New Heart Fuzzy", and "Get The Fuck Away From Me" wacky

But they make me happy cloud9
