Remembering AALIYAH

I was thinking about AALIYAH today so I pulled out her "One In a Million" CD and gave it a few listens today. She would be so huge right now if she never left us.

RIP = AALIYAH

Aaliyah was just a young talented songstress that was about to blossom fully, but she died way too young. I remember buying her self-titled album in the summer of 2001 (July, when it was released to be exact) and I was just in awe by how much she really developed from her Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number and One in a Million days. She was everywhere and a month later she was gone. I couldn't believe she was killed in an airplane crash. I think that is one of the reasons why I can't watch that Rock The Boat video because as beautiful as she and the video was, it would be the last time I saw her. I love her music so much and that Aaliyah album from 2001 is just a masterpiece.

As a matter of fact, my favorite Aaliyah joint is this:

Very funky and fresh indeed!

I will never forget when her last album was released I didn't understand the hype about it. Then like 2 years ago I gave it a chance and it was really a stellar album...

I've always loved Aaliyah. Her cover of "At Your Best (You Are Love)" is still absolutely stunning. One in a Million and Aaliyah are 2 of the best R&B albums of the last 2 decades.

I loved Aaliyah...still do. She always was able to carry herself soo gracefully without taking away from her integrity. She knew how to be sexy instead of selling sex like soo many female artists do nowadays. She left it to the imagination instead of throwing it in your face in every video. Simply put, Aaliyah was classy, sophisticated, and intelligent. She was well on her way of being a true triple threat...acting, singing, and dancing, but she left us so she could go and become someone's guardian angel. I'll miss her forever. I love this song from her.

my faves: Hot Like Fire remix, If Your Girl Only Knew, One In a Million, I Care for You, More Than a Woman, Rock the Boat...

When I think about the circumstances surrounding her death I just SO wish they wouldn't have been in such a rush w/ the plane being overloaded. Had just ONE person insisted it was a bad idea maybe she'd still be here along w/ the others who died that day. It's a shame... rose

Aaliyah was one of my favorite artists, and I still miss her and the thought of what-could-have-been. Very painful loss. Not just her talent and skills...but her whole personality. We just lost so much beauty in that one awful moment, inside and out.

Loved me some Aaliyah. Definitely a talent that was willing to break the mold and be adventurous. She was also a genuinely sweet and gracious young woman.

Of course I have to recognize my good friend Gina Smith, another special human being, that died on the plane with her. pray rose dove

Aaliyah's version of Ave Maria. Since she was going to a performing arts school, she had to sing in order to be accepted. This was the song she performed. She was 14
