Live Sananda (TTD) songs...

So, what does everyone think of the four live TTD tracks from his website (as a Christmas gift)? He does such an awesome job on "What Shall I Do?", though why is it so freakin' short? It just seems to end/fade so abruptly at 4:25! It's also good to hear Do You Love Me Like... too! Has anyone heard the four tracks yet? Lemme know what y'all think!!

Yeah for those wanting to hear Sananda's current live show, check the MP3s
out. Moon River, DYLMLYSYD, What Shall I Do and Testify for download.
Personally I think that the later two suffer from having their tempo
majorly slowed down (So the band can keep up?) in comparison to the album
versions.

When you read the subject and already know that the post is about Sananda and you don't like him, why do you read on???
Sananda is extremely underrated IMO, but nevertheless there are still many Prince fans who dig his music and want to be informed about him.
They might also appreciate that he, contrary to Prince, holds his promise of "freeing the music"(as Prince called it) and has a much more mature attitude towards bootlegs.
Sananda said that he is very happy with the life he can live and that he doesn't want to make a dollar out of everything. His 1st priority is that people can hear the music and not him being paid. What a great statement from a real artist and what a great feeling to be a "fan" of somebody like him instead of a "fam" of a man who made it very clear that what he wants to be nowadays is "being No.1 at the bank"...
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Sorry, UBE, for not posting the link. It was an oversight, but Essence pretty much posted it for me (http://www.sanandapromotion.com). When you get there, click on Sananda's X-Mas Gift, and you should be straight!

And, a huge co-sign to Serious's post! In addition, if you don't like the shit, you saw the title...you shouldn't have clicked on it. And to be honest, he's the closest thing to Prince than 97% of the the other artists talked about here!

How long have you been around, baby? TTD/Sananda (or whatever!) back in the 80's used to be all about the benjamins($)...Being an arrogant prick with one hit album ('The Hardline According to TTD") he thought that he was better thamn Prince, James Brown and George Clinton all together. The rest of his releases totally bombed (remember that god-awful Flesh/Fish album?).
So now that he is burned out and almost faded away, he changes his name and adopts a Zen-like name...Sananda. Lives in Munich (which is a cool place!), and plays second-rate shows.

Can't stand the fucker!

Well I'm a Prince fan since 1984 and a TTD/Sananda fan since his 2nd sinle "Wishing Well" (1987).I own thousands of Prince and Prince related records and have been to 50 Prince concerts in my life (which is a lot IMO as I live in a country where he only played in 87 and 93). I've also been to 14 TTD/Sananda concerts in my life and yes the concert I liked best was TTD at his Vibrator tour and not Prince (as much as I really did enjoy each and everyone of Prince's shows I attended!!)

TTD's Neither.." as well as "Symphony..", "Wildcard"and especially "Vibrator" are fantastic albums, for me music is about quality and not commercial success, so I don't care if he sells big time as long as he makes such wonderful music. If you want to listen to hit albums what about people like Jennifer Lopez or Britney Spears.

Sananda's name change has nothing to do with publicity/ copyright reasons or whatever it was for Prince, but is a very personal thing. He does not live in Munich btw. (moved away 1 year ago) and his current live performances are still great (I've seen Prince and Sananda live at several shows last fall and they were both great).

About Sananda being arrogant: yes he was always very aware of his talents and still is, but he says himself that he should have said some things different, because not everybody understood his irony when he made certain statements. All I can say from having had the chance to meet both Prince and Sananda that I can't really judge what a person Prince is (I have not talked long enough to him for that), but that Sananda really is a very nice man and not arrogant at all.

:O And I thought Prince needed backup singers! disbelief

Testify - nice vocal, WAY too slow. If the guitarist can't handle the tune, he needs a boot to the ass quick. They've GOTTA speeed that up.

Moon River - unfamiliar, skipped it but will listen later (it's late!)

Do You Love Me Like You Say You Do? - THIS is where the need for backup singers comes in, instead of that one whiny guy he has. WHO FARTED?? whofarted

What Shall I Do? - Again, the tempo is too slow. But nice vocal, his voice can almost surpass anything.

Overall, the songs sound empty as all hell. I've said it before & I'll say it again: HE NEEDS A REAL BAND!! A song like Testify is rich & almost sweeping @ times & this rinky dink "band" just doesn't cut it. I swear I wish Prince would do a little charity work & invite dude to the Celebration, show him what it's like to sing while backed PROPERLY. His voice is too gorgeous for this... disbelief

You're right, talent is not about commercial success...but must of his albums just suck! It can very well be that he is a very nice man, but you have to admit that it was foolish of him to say the things he said back then. It was immediately clear that he could not live up to those statements and that more or less killed his career...cut the irony-bullshit, he wanted to be a star just like any other kid with an hit-single!

BTW, I saw Stefan Raab once...which is a lot because he almost never comes the country where I live! I assume you come from Germany since your profile says you like Raab...Now tell me: Should I really believe that between '87 and '93 Prince put down 50 shows there and that you have attended them all? I happened to live in Germany as well during that period, if Prince has played 15 gigs in Germany in those years, it is a lot already! SOTT-tour '87, LoveSexy '88, Nude-Tour '90, I believe that he didn't tour '91, '92 & '93...at least, he left out Germany a couple of times!

I think that yes he wanted to be a star and was proud of what he had achieved, but I do believe that there was a lot of irony involved as well.
About his albums, well our tastes are very different. To me "Introducing..." is my least favourite album of him (though I love it as well). I think all his albums are brilliant and Vibrator is my favourite album of all time.

No, you are wrong, I'm not from Germany, but from Austria (but I must admit you were very close !). He played in Vienna in 87 and 93 and I also attended Prince concerts between 1986 and 2002 in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, France, Denmark and England. That's what I meant that I had to travel a lot to see him live. Btw Prince did play Germany in 86, 87, 88, 90, 92, 93, 98 and 2002 and except the SOTT tour which I only saw in Austria I attended at least one of his concerts in Germany every tour he played there, so we might have met each other back then (or maybe at 1 of the Holland concerts)

Peace
