Oh, I can definately understand that and I can just imagine how many songs y'all receive. We really would like to hear his song because he's a fellow orger and we've known him for years.

But if it's OK with the moderators, could he have a thread with his song in it maybe by yousendit or something and post it over in the section where the musicians talk about their creations? It wouldn't really be like posting a song for an illegal download since it's his own creation. But he would definately need to give his permission though because he may plan on releasing it to sell. But if he really wants to get it heard, I think that would be a great idea.

I don't think he'd mind, but in our show, we'll play the original of his song (by his Dad) and then his own version ... and this is what makes it special, him picking up where his Dad left off ... no worries, it'll air next week. smile

As the kick-off to our new series The World's Best Funk DJ's with Jersey's own Larry Grogan turned out to be a popular show and download, we now invite you to the second edition of this series on Midnight Soulstice.

Our guest this Friday, September 11th, will be DJ Orb from Los Angeles. A San Francisco native and former skate pro, Orb moved to L.A. in the late 1980s and has been a been an influential DJ and promoter on the local scene since. One of his first residential gigs was Hollywood's King King club in the early 1990s - homebase of L.A. Acid Jazz export The Solsonics. Around that time, Orb was the first DJ to tour with the Lollapalooza Festival.

In 1995, Orb met Midnight Soulstice co-host DJ Pari when both DJed at the legendary Viper Room. The following year, they started their weekly Funk party series in Venice Beach titled The Groove Lounge and booked acts like The Black Eyed Peas (when they were still underground and funky), Ozomatli and Mandrill.

Since 1997, Orb plays a weekly Thursday gig at Liquid Kitty in Santa Monica, making it the longest lasting Funk night in Los Angeles. He has toured Europe various times, and last year, he compiled and released the popular L.A. Funk compilation.

For Midnight Soulstice, Orb has prepared a nice mix of all rare Funk, Soul and Boogaloo 45s, L.A. style. Your hosts DJ Pari and Mr. Felty will drop some more funky tracks around Orb's set, so expect this show to be nasty!
Tune in from 11 pm until 1 am Eastern on 97.3 fm (in Richmond, VA) or www.wrir.org (worldwide).

It's a good idea, but I know that he's going to include his version of Standing on his solo album, so he definitely is planning on selling it! Anyway, everybody will be able to download it HERE afterwards, right?
