Mint Condition vs. Tony Toni Tone In all aspects who was better in you guy opinions? My money is on Mint Condition
for reason that they have a tighter sound, better lead singer etc.

that's a tough one!
i listen to TTT more than MC, but "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" is THE jam. so Mint Condition wins today... How can I stand 2 stay where I am? / Poor butterfly who don't understand.

MC fo sho!!!! well, it's tough, cause you got "Anniversary" by TTT, which is hard to beat.

This is a real tough one, but I'll have to go with TTT! Mint Condition is one of my favorite bands, but Tony Toni Tone just had that charisma and class that many groups were missing at that time. Besides, I don't think MC has ever done albums on the level of these two:
MC's Definition of a Band, From The Mint Factory, E-Life, and Life's Aquarium come close though! Check me out and add me on:

Yes it is but it could be worse. It could be another Janet vs. Mariah or Janet vs Madonna thread. Much to the author's credit he is a newbie here. [Edited 8/13/09 22:16pm] Don't laugh at my funk

T3 all the way. | |

I like more songs by the T's, but the lead singer of MC smokes all those fools

I love Tony Toni Tone.....BUT
Mint Condition gets the nod!!!!! Ever since one T left (Saadiq), they've just not sounded the same even thought that dude they have sounds like Saadiq. Mint Condition has forged on quite well since the departure of Mr. Toni Braxton (Keri Lewis)!!!!!

Why past tense? Mint is still alive and kicking.
I love them both! | |

Both my 2 favorite bands but MC is better. They proved why they are a better band over the years: more versatile, better songwriting, stronger subject matter, more originality, better instrumentation, better/stronger lead singer, better live performances, and Tony Toni Tone doesn't have a better album than From The Mint Factory (Sons of Soul & House of Music comes close). TTT did make better uptempo, have more hits and were more entertaining the Mint tho.
To me: Mint Condition is #1 Tony Toni Tone is #2 "YOU send me swaaaaangin', Ah U send me swangaaaaan'!!"

MC- More musical versatility.

Mint was/is a throwback to the big band days like Cameo, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Ohio Players, while 3T was in the tradition of a simpler, funkier sound like Sly & The Family Stone and Graham Central Station. Glad 2 see that Mint's still out there rockin while Rapheal Saddiq is carryin it on on his own

i agree. both these bands (top 2 male R&B bands of the 90's) blow jodeci and boyz ii men (top two male R&B singing groups) out the water....easily.

TTT!
To this day they are great! They had live music to their stuff in the 1990's when everyone was more or less using keyboards and loops.

DeVante wrote all their music and was great on keys and guitar (just like Teddy Riley).... while his brother Dalvin was a badass drummer (just like Aaron's brother Damion)....shit, man they were a southern verison of GUY. he he [Edited 8/14/09 16:12pm]

This is a good one... I really had to think about it for a minute, but I gotta go with Tony Toni Tone, just for the sheer strength of "It Never Rains in Southern California." This song takes me places no other jam has before or since.

Neither, not funky enough (Tony etc) / too slick and polished (Mint Condition)

this decision gets harder the more I listen to their songs. Actually I remember going to a concert back in the day and seeing them both....excellent concert!!! They were both awesome live. I think Tonys have the edge with bigger hits...plus I just love some Raphael Saadiq!
