Joanna Newsom has very unique way of singing. I am not saying that diamanda galas and nina hagen sound like Joanna. I am not comparing them as well. I am just stating that these three women don't care,if there material is pop-y enough for the radio. They take a chance and sing the way their heart tells them to. I think people should give Joanna Newsom a chance! btw Joanna is related to San Francisco Major Gavin Newsom(something about a first cousin once removed, what ever that means!)

I have the Ys album and like it a lot. It was surprising to see Steve Albini's name in the credits. I'm used to hearing loud noisy stuff from him.
