Waiting to Exhale (honorable mention)

Forgot about this one. To me, it helped spark the "old skool" movement that's still happening right now. It helped bring attention to songs like "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" from Roger and "Mary Jane".

Wow I got almost every one mentioned already lol

This is my thread!!

A lot of 90s soundtracks ended up being loaded with non-album hits by big name artists, tucked away were jewels by acts you probably never heard from again, but they were produced by someone big and included as part of the bigger project.

I can't just list one great soundtrack from the 90s. Impossible. lol

My favorites (many have been listed already) are:

"I'm Breathless" (Dick Tracy soundtrack) from Madonna : 'Sooner or Later' and Madonna really wasn't that bad in this movie...at least I didn't think she was. mushy

"Mo' Money" : Luther AND Janet on a song together?!?! omg love

'Waiting To Exhale" : This album cemented Babyface as a musical genius for me. Every song is excellent in their entirety (singer, instrumentals, lyrics..killed it; just killed it bow ). My absolute favorite songs are: 'Let It Flow' by Toni Braxton (I think it's still the most expensive, unreleased video in music video history) and 'This Is How It Works' by TLC (which totally skips like hell because I played it soo much sad )

'The Bodyguard' : Awww, Whitney mushy You do not want to know how many times I watched this movie. I remember going to the theater on opening night and watching it with my family and being super excited that Whitney was finally in a movie. She had me hook-line-and-sinker and I still think the movie is great no matter what anyone says hmph! .

'Anastasia' : an animated film that has a song called 'Journey To The Past' by Aaliyah. That was really the only reason I got this soundtrack initially, but it's soo good from beginning to end.

'Pretty Woman' : already talked about.

'Sprung' : cute movie with a great soundtrack. Has a remix of 'One In A Million' on it. Plus, 'The Secret Garden' mushy and a duet from Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold called 'Don't Ask My Neighbor' that is absolutely fierce. bow

'Soul Food' : absolutely love the Boyz II Men and Dru Hill songs on this album ('Song for Mama' and 'We're Not Making Love No More'. My favorite song on this album is Usher and Monica's cover of 'Slow Jam' heart

'Romeo & Juliet' : Shakespeare never looked so cool . Favorite Tracks are: 'Young Hearts Run Free' by Kym Mazelle; 'Kissing You' by Des'ree; and, the cover of 'When Doves Cry' by a kid named Quinton Tarver.

'Space Jam' : My favorite song is: 'For You I Will' by Monica.

'Strictly Business' : 'I Just Want Love' by Stephanie Mills mushy

'Boomerang' : Man, Babyface was the ish when it came to soundtracks.

'Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit' : young Lauryn Hill doin' it right. Love her with Tanya Blount on 'His Eye Is On The Sparrow'...absolutely beautiful.

'The Associate' : 'All That I Need' by CeCe Peniston; 'Makin My Way (Any Way That I Can)' by Wynonna Judd; and, 'Mr. Big Stuff' by Queen Latifah, Shades, and Free. nod thumbs up!

'Down On The Delta' : I bought this soundtrack because Chaka Khan covers Prince's 'Don't Talk 2 Strangers' on it but found that it's a truly phenomenal album throughout.

'Carlito's Way' : LaBelle and Cheryl Lynn mushy

'BeBe's Kids' : lol I know, but the soundtrack is actually very good for this adult-themed, animated comedy that is still great after all these years.

'Bad Boys' : lol No, I didn't buy this soundtrack for the 'Bad Boys' theme song. I actually bought it because I loved the songs: 'Shy Guy' by Diana King; 'Someone To Love' by Jon B. and Babyface'; and, 'Me Against The World' by 2Pac.

'BAPS' : a movie with a ghetto-tastic Halle Barry and a really good soundtrack.by Stanley Clark. Lots of great instrumental tracks on this album.

'Set It Off' : 'Missing You' by some amazing female artists. Also loved 'Dayz of our Livez' by Bone Thugs N Harmony.

'Malcolm X' : 'Revolution' by Arrested Development (WTH ever happened to them because they were great) and 'Someday We'll All Be Free' by the Queen, Aretha Franklin....I absolutely love this track; makes me cry it's soo amazing. touched

'Beverly Hills 90210' : I know it's not a movie sountrack, but it's soo good and was made for film...TV sitcom film but it's still film. My favorite songs are: 'Saving Forever For You' by Shanice mushy ; 'Love Is' by Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight bow ; and 'The Right Kind of Love' by some guy named Jeremy Jordan who was a one-hit wonder.

This soundtrack came out in 2000, but since it's soo good and soo close to the 90s, I just have to include it because I love it soo much:

'Love & Basketball' : Oh my jebus, this is a awesome soundtrack. I bought the 'Lucy Pearl' album because of this soundtrack (love that album). Man, it's got 'I Like' by Guy; 'Sweet Thing' by Rufus and Chaka; 'I Want To Be Your Man' by Roger'; and, 'Fool Of Me' by Meshell Ndegeocello on it...nuff said. Honorable mention like a mug over here. lol
