This is one of my favorites by Rick. He made this for Linda Blair.

This was a new sound for Rick....a stripped-down,electronic funk sound that was different than his previous material.I like it

When this song came out at the end of summer '83, a friend at my high school told me about it. She said Rick James has a new song called "Cold Blooded". I hadn't heard it. Then I heard it, and I was like...whaaaa? I just didn't get it, it sounded so electronic and monotonous, so...cold. Totally unlike anything from Street Songs or Throwin' Down. What was Rick thinking? But after hearing it a few times, it clicked and I was hooked. It's a very infectious groove, and I applaud Rick for not sticking to his formula when he put this out. Great song, still love it to this day. The whole album was spotty for me, but this track reigns supreme. Yeah,"Cold Blooded" was a whole new sound for Rick.He was trying to adapt to new technology and styles.Synths and drum machines took over, and the horns weren't as prominent. It was a colder, electronic sound, much different from the previous albums.I think he felt that the Street Songs/Throwin' Down sound was played out and that it was time to move on.

Lately I've been searching for several Stone City Band songs to download and every time I search, I have to wade through about 500 "I'm Rick James Bitch" to find anything. Yeah, it was a funny segment but these damn folks today will take one thing and wear it fucking out. Andy is a four letter word.
