Artists Turn to FCC in Radio-Fee Battle

http://www.urbaninsite.com/?p=3590

It appears that some broadcasters you may know or work for are now resorting to unfair tactics by refusing to play music by musicians that support the Performance Rights Act. The Music First Coalition has had enough and is taking action and says alleged blackballing tactics are being used.

The FCC released a public notice today in which Music First is asking that the FCC put an end to the NAB’s misrepresentations of the act, which it feels is not in the public interest. The NAB campaign portrays these “unfair tax” ads as a public service messages when in fact they are not. Terrestrial radio broadcasters have also refused to air advertisements in support of the Performance Rights Act as well, which creates a one sided argument that equates to something called censorship.
