I snagged me the Japanese remaster of The Jacksons Live. Released to tie in with the concerts. Not entirely convinced it's remastered or just the levels have been tweaked, but boy is that *the absolute shit*. I played that sucker to death on vinyl back in the day...

This sounds pretty unappealing. Right in time for Halloween? Are they going for the "Thriller" angle or what? And really, what was with the name for that tour: "This Is It!"?? Really, people? And 3-D? Why? No offense, but I do not want to see that last version of MJ on a screen that big and in 3-D, no less. I'm sorry. mad

Kenny Ortega confirmed that the movie will also feature a brand new short film by Michael that was intended for broadcast at the o2.

w00t, something to watch at least. I hope they're straight legit about the worldwide release. We got to wait next year for Cirque Du Freak sad

Just bought shares of this bad boy on hsx. This is the synopsis:

"Sony has secured the rehearsal videos from the late Michael Jackson's "This Is It" concert tour for a feature film. Kenny Ortega will direct the concert film which will also feature an alternative version of Thriller."

I hope it's a club banger and not another sappy "Heal the World" (though I love the song) track. I want to dance to Michael Jackson again.

I can't wait! On the big screen. I know the audience is going to be dancing and crying and the same time. It's going to be a spiritual experience. One of pure joy and sorrow and everything life has to offer.

you're all going to see it, no matter how much you bitch and moan about the evil empires of Sony and AEG

I'm sure as hell going. And I'm taking two 24 year olds to see it with me. since I started playing him after his death for them at work or in the car, they can't get enough.

it's like they've been STARVED for music talent/personality their whole lives. and considering what they listen to normally, i can see why.

eh, I don't know. I think fans can be a bit disingenuous or even hypocritical when it comes to this stuff. People will say he wasn't really like his public image in real life, and that he was a shrewd business man, but in the same breath will act like he was this innocent doe-eyed thing stumbling through the world being taken advantage of.

you know?

Yeah I hear mixed signals: he was a smart businessman, he was naive about what he was getting into, he is a survivor, he was killed by the industry, it becomes too much at the end. confused

Exactly. Besides, you don't go to a theater to see a movie, IMO. You go for the experience of seeing it on the large screen with a bucket of popcorn and stuff.

nod The theater is for the experience. It's soo much more than just watching a movie on a big screen. I used to work for a movie theater and to see a whole room of people, who share this one thing in common, really enjoying themselves is a nice thing. With MJ fans, it would definitely be something to see...just hoping people don't go nutty and turn it all 'Harry Potter/Star Wars" trying to pay homage to MJ boxed . Personally, I think this film is a great idea because fans get to see the concert they were paying for in the end. It's no different from movies that have actors who died before the film was released. 'The Dark Knight' still played in theaters after Heath Ledger passed as did 'The Crow'. Why should this be any different? Actors aren't standing right in front of you during a movie, so shrug I wish they would offer it in IMAX instead of 3-D so you could really get the feeling like you are right there. I'll be checking it out just to see the King do it one last time. cool

I'll go with low expectations and am sure it will be mimed. It will be just nice to see him on a big screen and with his music playing on a good system in a room with other people who admire his music.

It's not a concert, just a rehearsale, he's lipsynching and dance like an old man, no new songs...it's gonna suck. I don't want to see this pathetic montage and keep a better image of him.
