All good clips...I just have to say that Machine Gun is one if not THE best performance on live guitar ever to be captured on wax, video or whatever else that existed when Jimi was walking around this place that is called Earth.

I was playing it last week when the class came in, and I had a 10 minute conversation with a student because he COULD NOT understand the song.

HIM: What Are U listening to?

ME: Jimi Hendrix

HIM: Is he shooting a gun?

ME: No. The song is called "Machine Gun"

HIM: A song about a machine gun?

ME: Not exactly.

HIM: But are they shooting guns?

ME: NO! It's the guitar and drummer making the effect.

HIM: But...

We went back and forth for a while....
The problem is, they listen to so much of that canned nonsense, he couldn't conceive of being able to make "sound effects" without computers and a soundboard. doh!

music today has literally brainwashed children to not understand what real music is. It is us as parents to teach the children what real music with content is. not a song called "LOL" for 4 minutes its lolololololololololol. and it took 3 people to write it.

Probably one of the most powerful anti war statements ever in media. Jimi conveyed a message through his music that politicians of that era and even today do not get.

Excellent song!

I'd like to think so.

A little less ripped and we could've at least made it to the subway.
Once inside the Fillmore it would've been the perfect headspace to be Jimi-ized.
