So far I've listened to: ABC Barry Adamson The Afghan Whigs Alien Sex Fiend The Allman Brothers Alter Ego Currently have Dave Alvin playing. American Music Club is up next. Which Alien Sex Fiend? Acid Bath - I also have 'Who's Been Sleeping In My Brain' on vinyl, but I don't have a turntable set up these days. I'm probably going to sell off my LPs this year.

How are you going to listen to Metal Box? I haven't been able to listen to it for a long time now, and my world didn't collapse I guess. I actually donated about 90% of my collection to a local charity about three years ago. I'd always planned to buy my dream sound system and include a top of the line turntable with it when I hit 40, but 40 has now crept up on me and I've shifted my life strategy. So it's off with the head of what remains of the collection: a tough, saddening pill to swallow since my record-collecting defined me for so many years, but the decision has more or less been made. Sorry for prattling on about myself. Nobody could give a shit's dick-ass, I'm sure.

On the contrary, being the same age, reading your post was like peering into a looking glass and seeing what could have been. My brand x turntable still works and I have a fairly decent entertainment system which has helped me become a bigger fan of film in particular, but also keeps my interest in vinyl from disappearing. If things had been different, I could have easily gone down your path. I'd still be sad though knowing I'd never be able to hear one of my favorite albums Metal Box properly ever again.
