30 Greatest (Male) Rhythm & Blues/Soul Groups of All-Time?

(Not leaving the females out, will do a separate one for them ...)

Got the idea messing around in Harle's thread talking about the Ink Spots.

Requirements, no bands, which means no EWF, Bar-Kays, JB's, P-Funk, ect. Some groups, we can make an .org decision and see if they fit the requirements.

Vocal groups or Bands?
The Isley Brothers: Many different variations.
Five Stairsteps: Sometimes performed with instruments.
Jackson 5/Jacksons: 2 to 3 members performed with instruments.
Cameo: (post Flirt) Cut down tow a quartet.
Guy: Three members, but sometimes performed with instruments.
Tony Toni Toni:
Jodeci:
PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever

Vocal groups:
The Isley Brothers (the original trio of Ron, Kelly and Rudy from 1959 to 1973)
The Ink Spots
The Orioles
The Moonglows
The Dells
The Flamingos
The Stairsteps
The Temptations
The Four Tops
The Impressions
Sam & Dave (well ain't a duo the same as a "group" anyways?)
The Originals
Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers
The Drifters (in all of its incarnations)
Billy Ward & the Dominoes
The O'Jays
Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes
The Dramatics
The Intruders
The Delfonics
The Spinners
The Chi-Lites
The Jackson 5
Bloodstone (minus the fact they played instruments, they had the finest harmonies of any '70s-era soul group)
The Treniers
New Edition
Boyz II Men
...just adding these groups LBC mentioned, they're AS great:
The Coasters
The Cadillacs
The Moments
Main Ingredient
The Stylistics
Force MD's
The Whispers

Yeah the Contours were great, I originally had them in my list. They were very underrated considering the label they were on, lol.

What about, uh, well, Archie Bell & the Drells? hmmm

Cameo can definitely get some kudos... The Tony's is difficult, they were as much a group as they were a band versus Mint Condition who are a full-time band. hmmm

I can't stomach some '90s R&B groups for some reason. hmmm Love the music from the Unifics, Black Ivory, Hi-Five and Enchantment.

YEah, early 90s' was cool but later in the decade, didn't care for them. I liked Dru Hill and a little bit of Jagged Edge, can't stand 112 though.

DeBarge
Public Announcement
LSG.

I think we got everybody, basically. Now just bring this 60 or so groups down to 30.

112 was so fucking whiny! lol

Good case for DeBarge but the other two? Not so much. LSG was great but their material left a lot to be desired despite that they can sing the fuck out of anything (with the exception of "S", lol)
