My "really really rock heavy and wild" song and my "too much solo" is what got me the shaft. Truth is ALL of what he said was in his track record being that the few artists on that label that he was behind, Jak, Exotic Storm, all were heavy synth oriented bands with VERY little rock guitar or rock anything for that matter, in their sound. Larkin specialized in trying to find cats who were biting off of Prince's or Jesse's image but who weren't truly playing guitars. He wanted cats to "pose" with a guitar but not to actually play one. He wanted watered down version's of Prince and Jesse TOTALLY minus of the rock guitar. On what he heard of me, it was the EXACT opposite of that. I was representing Hendrix, rock mode Prince and rock mode Jesse with the Strawberry Lover based Mazarati sound thrown in...along WITH the long haired brutha image that he was SO interested in. But for his tastes, which showed in all the acts he signed, their entire albums, it was all Prince bites with heavy synths. Totally NOT my style, then or now. Like I said, it was all very watered down Prince type stuff. Lacking all of P's edge, bite and orginality. Epic ended up getting rid of Larkin after the artists that he were behind ended up not selling. So.... [Edited 8/23/09 20:59pm] That sound like a good mixure of styles where can I listen to your music? I'd love to hear that shit, the black rock star is whats missing in music today. I only 23 but I love funk rock and the minnie sound, it's nothing else like it.

but i was feeling the groove and the album title interests me so ill probably snatch it up. i looked him up and he has some more recent rnb stuff out today. it looks like he had some success as a hiphop producer. I think driving me wild sounds like lady cab driver, idk maybe it's just me.But yeah I think Sam bostic now produces E 40 and others from the bay, Im not sure though.
