i dig some of ernestwell post
he sometime really say good and nice things but he likes to put people down.
point is -never judge any work done by Jimmy Smith ,everything he played is perfect.

thanks violet biggrin

How is me correcting a spelling error putting you down?

I don't sit around hoping to find a way to put people down, so get past that assumption.

No one judged Jimmy's work, the song itself (Bad) was judged and could have stood for a guitar solo to crank it up a notch or three.

yes Legendary Jimmy Smith played hammond b3 solo on the song Bad.
And that solo is great and tasty
so Errants and ERnestsewells comments just make me laugh but ignorance is a bliss

i mean can you say something more stupid in this thread then :

"I agree. The video was supposed to be all bad ass, yet there's an organ solo in it? Whimpy whimpy whimpy. It'd be like putting a synth solo in "Dirty Diana"."

eek eek eek eek eek eek eek

Errant and Ernestewells learn a thing or too about Jimmy Smith before you talk nonsence: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...(musician)

it's a great organ solo.

it is, however, completely at odds with the theme of the song. I'm bad, I'm bad, really really bad.... organ solo. hhhhhooooo!

Not sure how we got to the ORGAN solo on Bad from a thread about GUITAR on Beat It... but since we are talking Bad - I must say that I NEVER play that song. MJ and Bad just don't go together. Horrible concept - and truly the beginning of the end for me as real fan of Mike. The video was ridiculous and not in a 'ridiculous is good type of way'.
We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams.

And that tinny synth sound. Sounds like muzak-lite. Even the bass is not so heavy. And the background vox, too airy.

yeah, the background vocals are the other thing wrong with this song. I'm bad, bad, really really bad... as sung by a broadway chorus line. confused

I do like the song, despite all this. It was just a wasted opportunity in several respects.
