"Working Girl" by Cheri (1983)---very rare video Cheri was an R&B female duo who scored a major hit in the summer of '82 with "Murphy's Law".In spring 1983,they came back with a controversial single "Working Girl",which deals with prostitution.I think it's a great track, but unfortunately,it got ignored by radio stations.

Hell, it didn't get ignored down here. They played it in regular rotation with so many other hooker songs. The 70s and early 80s was a great era for hooker songs.....

Donna has done several songs about prostitution. It got to the point where I would hear a new song from her and wonder if she's talking about whores again. When I first heard "Love Is In Control",I assumed that Donna was singing...

"I guess I missed the target caught up in a different nine to five" There was some other eighties Donna song I thought was about prostitution. I'm trying to think? Maybe it was "Cats Without Claws Thanks for sharing. I've been a huge fan of "Murphy's Law" for years but never heard this one (and certainly never saw the video). [Edited 8/6/09 8:48am] | |
