Yes it samples Stevie Nicks (not Survivor as some people said at the time), but there are lyrical hooks that Beyonce put in to pay homage to Michael - she often said this at the time. From the start when Kelly is singing Beyonce is doing all little Michael hiccups and "dahs" and as the song progresses they throw in the "heeeees" etc.

Musically no it doesn't reference MJ, but vocally it is there and deliberately so.

this was the performance that made me LOVE DC, well minus Michelle she's flat in the performance but Kelly and B served it up. Still think Kelly is the better of the two.
