What do The Jacksons, Prince, and The Barkays all have in common?

They all influenced the group Kwick.

A lot of folks have forgotten all about the funk band Kwick but when you hear some of these tracks, the memories will come right back.

This jam from 1981 sounds very Jacksons/Triumph inspired.....

This one from 1983 is straight up Prince.....

This slow jam from 1983 about masturbation was produced by Allen Jones who also produced The Barkays and Ebonee Webb. It is very Barkays sounding.....

I remember reading about them back in 83 but wasn't hip to what they sounded like. The first one is dead on Jacksons like u said. Even with the Michael yelp. "Stuck Up" is a straight bite off of The Time's "Wild and Loose". Especially the hook. Almost identical vocal melody.

I remember Kwick as far back as 1980 but i didn't know that they
had as many albums out as they did. I can only remember the first
two albusm. They had a song called Here I Go Again that used to
get airplay in my area. They have a song called Split Decision
that even sounds more like the barkays.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I was waiting on your ass to show up because I knew if anyone had heard of them, it would be you. I'm surprised that more people don't remember "Too Lonely To Be Alone". Out of all the Kwick songs, that's the one that got the most airplay in my area.
