Yep. You can confirm if you like by comparing a track to any of the official samples available.

Patience.

The mono set sounds real (or great at the very least).

Seems like Meijer is the only store selling them for $9.99 (well, they only picture four of them so I know that won't include "The White Album" and if available, "Past Masters"). I'll pick up a few of them but not all. Just not that big of a fan, especially of the early stuff.

Yeah that is the only place that has any for 9.99, Best Buy is going 12-13.99 for the single ones and 16.99+ for doubles like the White Album, the box is 199.99 they dont have the mono anymore.

these releases are going to be the saviour to the cd and the industry this year. Talked to a friend at Universal that i have known for about a decade, and one of the few that is still with the label, and he said at all the "4th Quarter" meetings for all the labels, this is ALL anyone is talking about, after this is MJ's catalog which they know will pick up again at xmas, the new Whitney they feel is going to be the most consistent seller of the "new albums", but after that there isnt much chatter about any releases.

The funny thing is that over the last few years their prices have went up for the CDs and they've scaled back a lot. Maybe they are counting on drawing a lot of people in with this since they haven't been able to do that in a while with media releases....or they made a mistake and will print a retraction in the store (I've seen that happen before for some prices that seem too good to be true).

I heard "There's a Place" on the radio at a local bar last night with Ivy and it struck the biggest chord with me. Every time I sing it to myself since then, I can't help but tear up. Not sure what that's about, but it's some of the first music I ever heard as a small child. I know early Beatles isn't where it's at for most folks, but I will always love that stuff dearly. I will be there first thing wednesday morning.

I remember that being your favorite. The ones that always get me emotional are "She Said, She Said" and "For No One" ... for various reasons.

so I'm downloading both the Mono and Stereo boxes and will listen to both to decide if it's worth waiting to get my hands on the currently sold-out mono box set or if the stero box will be good enough on Wednesday.

knowing me, I'll have some kind of compulsive shopping fit and end up tracking down and buying both on Wednesday. sigh

so irritating trying to track this down. best buy, borders, wal-mart, meijer. nobody around here knows what the hell they're getting.

guy at the independent store says all his boxes are spoken for but supposedly the mono will be re-printed before christmas

The prices have gone up because now there is NO OTHER place to go, plus the writing is on the wall, they have been losing money on music from day one, 9.99 for a new cd from a label nets them a 3 dollar loss in most cases, this is why you cant go in Best Buy and buy more than 3 copies of a new cd, because they dont want some mom and pop coming in and buying there stuff dirt cheap, and then selling it. Truth is if Best Buy only sold music/cds, those cds would be 16-17 dollars regular price, and 14.99 on sale.

Despite hearing what sounds "like" the remastered Beatles, I wouldn't trust any source at the moment - where are the documentary videos??? The "Stereo" on some of the earlier albums I have heard that purport to be genuine is still poor "vocal to the right, music to the left" and I would hope they have made a better job than that - although I'm looking forward to receiving my mono boxset!!!

the official stereo remasters ARE vocal on one side, music on the other, as they're recreations (or actual remasters) of the original fake stereo releases.

except for Help and Rubber Soul, which are, confusingly, the remixed stereo versions from the first round of CD releases 20 years ago, and the original 1965 stereo mixes are only available in the mono box set nuts

what I'd like for stereo remasters is something like that remixed Yellow Submarine Songtrack album that came out when they re-released the movie in... what, 1999? (or from Love a few years ago). that sounds lovely and modern. if you're going to bother with stereo mixes at all. otherwise, I don't need remastered re-creations of some crappy sub-par fake stereo mixes from 40 years ago.

so how long before there's a new "best of" a la Red/Blue utilizing these new remasters?

kind of wish they'd thrown those 2 into the process for the isolated versions of a few tracks (Back In The USSR, and especially A Day In The Life).

but I imagine there'll be a new definitive best of out in time for Christmas next year.

anyone want to take bets?

My impression from what I have read is that apart from the first 2 albums which were 2 track (one music & one vocal), they have made more "truer" stereo mixes. If this is not the case then the mono's are definitely the way to go IMO. That old-style stereo mix is a corruption of the intended output.

I hear lots of things that aren't in the Stereo

Extra sound effects in Mr. Kite, SGT pepper Reprise, Good Morning.

She's Leaving Home sounds improved in mono due to it being sped up a tad.

not to mention, it seems to rock a little harder, the drums on pepper reprise sound amazing.

Truth is if Best Buy only sold music/cds, those cds would be 16-17 dollars regular price, and 14.99 on sale.

Actually, I saw a mom and pop store with Best Buy copies of Cds (shameless....didn't even take the stickers off!). They were a bit shady and ripped me off when I traded in used CDs (but since they took them all, it was fine).

BTW, Meijer was ONLY selling the four CDs that they listed in the add but since those were the ones that I wanted it was fine ("Sgt. Pepper's", "Rubber Soul", "Revolver" and "Abbey Road). Actually, FYE is selling them for $12.99 with a $3 rebate. Never did a rebate with them, though. And it's even cheaper if you're a member of their music club ($10 a month but the first was free and they give you a $20 card if you but you have to fill out a slip so if you forget you're out of luck). Now $9.99 for a CD at a media only store....how do they make money? Luring you in for other stuff, possibly?

Hate to say this but Best Buy had a copy of the Mono set....I just couldn't do it! I'm not that big of a fan. Frankly, since I got what I wanted at Meijer, there was no point in going there.

Today my faith is restored that good music will bring people into stores... Fck the economy and all the bs about other artists not selling.

$199 for a box set when albums are avail individually and you still sell out is PHENOM>...

I dying personally cause I want a mono set, but I am very happy and can't wait to hear the sales figures.
Music is the best...
