Mercenaries, mercenaries, I tell ya.... LMAO. Now back to the discussion - I do wonder though - isn't part of the joy of the beatles albums is hearing the mono (stereo) mixes that made you feel like the sound was coming from here, there, and everywhere. Surely remastered and given the stereo once over will lose some of it's appeal. Swa "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

Man this eating me up alive.
No way I can afford box set (stereo) right now. I can afford a few individuals. I'm thinking Magical Mystery Tour for sure. The old version's audio is quite bad. And Sgt Pepper because it's ...Sgt. Pepper. But I really want Past Masters also. The recession be damned! [Edited 9/10/09 6:30am] Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I tell you, they're making a big mistake by not offering the individual mono discs. The mono Sgt. Pepper is definitive. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

So now that we've all gotten our hands on at least some remasters, who's going to get this?
Art in 'Beatles Box of Vision' is 'married to the music'
By Edna Gundersen, USA TODAY Jon Polk was thinking inside the box when he envisioned The Beatles Box of Vision nearly 10 years ago. His elaborate companion to the newly remastered Beatles CDs holds a 200-page linen-covered book of album artwork, a comprehensive discography and storage for 32 discs, providing a single, lavish receptacle for storing and displaying the band's entire body of work. "It's the first box set that doesn't come with music," he quips. "It can be confusing." Not for Beatles fans, who pre-ordered 20,000 of the $90 13-pound sets, available at boxofvision.com and thebeatles.com. Officially licensed by The Beatles' Apple Corps, the collection also will be sold in a deluxe limited-run edition of 4,000 at Restoration Hardware. Polk, who served as Capitol's chief operating officer from 2001 to 2007, first proposed a comprehensive book of Beatles album art in the '90s but was shot down because Apple, notoriously resistant to licensing deals, didn't want competition for its Beatles Anthology tome. He got the green light in 2000. "It began as a simple license, but Apple has embraced it to the point that it's an official Beatles product," Polk says. "They could have pulled the rug out at any time. I under-promised and over-delivered." Delivering all Beatles album artwork totally restored proved thorny. Polk was surprised no other heritage acts had published books of complete album art until he began digging for source material. "I thought it would be simple. It turned into quite a task. By 21st-century standards, the quality just wasn't there." Negatives of original album art were gone, so Polk gathered up to 15 pristine copies of each album through Apple and EMI archives, eBay, collectors and Rockaway Records in Los Angeles. Since albums were manufactured at multiple plants, color correction was vexing. "You can buy 10 copies of Beatles '65 and get 10 different background colors," Polk says. "The U.K. Help! cover was complicated, too. We noticed so many details in the faces and hands were missing." The resulting "artwork remastered" is reproduced in an LP-sized book of all U.S. and U.K. releases, including front and back covers, gatefolds, inserts and booklets. An added "catalography" book extensively chronicles both catalogs, with an essay by Beatles author Bruce Spizer. "If you grew up with The Beatles, the artwork was married to the music," Polk says. "For young fans, this will only make their appreciation deeper." Polk and an industrial designer spent years crafting Box of Vision's patented storage system, with pockets for previously released CDs and booklets or new digipaks. He's negotiating to produce luxuriant modules for other iconic artists with deep catalogs. The CD may be dying, but he sees little downside in the download era. "People have large collections of CDs, and I don't see them throwing them out," he says. http://www.usatoday.com/l...sion_N.htm

Even though over 30 years have elasped since the Beatles disbanded, no other group in music can touch them. To paraphase a McCartney lyric (from "Helter Skelter"), they are miles above anyone. I picked up my favorites yesterday: "The White Album", "Sgt Peppper, "Revolver" and "Abbey Road" and heard those tracks like never before, as they were intended to be heard. All I can say is...WOW!

^ bought the same albums although I only wanted Revolver they didn't have it, I had to order it!

well... even though I will get the box set next week (and the mono box eventually), I couldn't wait anymore and had to pick up The White Album at lunch today.
Listening to it now, and all I can say is... wow. Sounds truly amazing. * * *

I think so too (a mistake, that is. I haven't heard either version yet). I guess they only want one definitive album on the shelves and decided it would be the stereo ones My Legacy

Unfortunate since the actual people who made the albums say the mono versions are definitive But maybe these stereo versions are great My Legacy

The sound in the Stereo version is unbelievable. I can honestly say that it almost like hearing them for the first time. I have been a fan since I was twelve(1984) and have heard the music in all the formats the've been available, and this is the best sound I've heard. The mono mixes get here tomorrow. With the Beatles' remasters, Jack White opening up his vault, and the new Zune coming out in a few days, 2009 has been one good year.
