$199 for a box set when albums are avail individually and you still sell out is PHENOM>... I dying personally cause I want a mono set, but I am very happy and can't wait to hear the sales figures. Really? I went to Meijer at midnight and they didn't have the CDs out. I asked about them and hey were so concentrated on the video game that they didn't know anything about it. That being said, only a small handful of people were there for the game (and they didn't even want the band setup...just the game). I was the only person there for the Cds but they couldn't find them! Shameful! When I went there this morning, I saw them on display. Obviously they do not put any energy releases anymore. I remember a few years ago for another new release (can't remember what) there was a bit of a lineup but I guess that was the total proof to me that the Cd is dead. I know people have been saying it and saying it for years, but that opened up my eyes. When those "Anthology" sets came out about 15 years ago, there were lines around the block!

Went to one Wal-Mart for the rest of what I needed and they didn't have them. at all. I asked a couple people that worked there and they were like "CD's? Yeah, I think I heard something about that.... we don't have those boxes." and I'm like "what about the individual CD's?" and they said "Yeah, I heard something about that too, we can't find them. I don't think they got them." Massive fail. I went to the Wal-Mart on the other side of town and they had all of them.

I wouldn't be shocked if what happened to you at Wal-Mart was the same thing that happened to me at Meijer. They probably did have them there. How much are they selling for at Wal-Mart? Not $9.99 I assume? [Edited 9/9/09 12:40pm]

Let me qualify what stores I am speaking to.
Called 4 best buys on Long Island NY, sold out both sets All online retailers at least big ones are out. Was in target and they had a small section, no box sets but all albums avail. I think we will all be blown away by the sales figures. The fact that the upsell of $199 box set vs $13 has sets sold out in most places still speaks volumes to me. Not sure if this is just regional ie metro NY.... Music is the best...

TRON said: I heard "There's a Place" on the radio at a local bar last night with Ivy and it struck the biggest chord with me. Every time I sing it to myself since then, I can't help but tear up. Not sure what that's about, but it's some of the first music I ever heard as a small child. I know early Beatles isn't where it's at for most folks, but I will always love that stuff dearly. I will be there first thing wednesday morning.
Introducing the Beatles (the American Please Please Me) was the first album I ever bought. That stuff is nostalgic for me, too, even tough you're right it isn't my favorite material of theirs. My Legacy

199 dollars for some albums, wtf?
I ain't buying an entire discography for that much, and anyone who does is IMO a sucker. I'll just burn these onto my ipod from some sucker who's willing to let me. Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

errant said: tecstar said: The "Stereo" on some of the earlier albums I have heard that purport to be genuine is still poor "vocal to the right, music to the left" and I would hope they have made a better job than that - although I look forward to my mono boxset!!!
the official stereo remasters ARE vocal on one side, music on the other, as they're recreations (or actual remasters) of the original fake stereo releases. except for Help and Rubber Soul, which are, confusingly, the remixed stereo versions from the first round of CD releases 20 years ago, and the original 1965 stereo mixes are only available in the mono box set what I'd like for stereo remasters is something like that remixed Yellow Submarine Songtrack album that came out when they re-released the movie in... what, 1999? (or from Love a few years ago). that sounds lovely and modern. if you're going to bother with stereo mixes at all. otherwise, I don't need remastered re-creations of some crappy sub-par fake stereo mixes from 40 years ago. I am reading reviews that say the stereos have been tinkered with - centering of vocals in some cases and "re-distibuting" the instruments thus creating a more balanced stereo effect. I still want mono though! "Lisa, i'm gonna give u the brush, and u're gonna paint the side of the train..."

Chances are they'll play it again. I plan to buy more of the albums at FYE. Really hoping they have "Magical Mystery Tour", "Let It Be" and "The White Album"....I have no interest in the early stuff and as for "Yellow Submarine", it might be worth seeking out the 1999 version with ALL Beatles songs.
